Obituary: Erin Bentivegna went to heaven on , the 30th at her home in Mahopac NY after a 14 year battle with cancer surrounded by her brother Jonathan and her parents Margaret and Joe, and her priest and hospice nurse both called Pat. She was 18 years old. She was born in NYU in New York City and lived in Yonkers NY until she was 7 at which time she moved to Mahopac NY. While in Yonkers she attended St. John the Baptist elementary school. She also attended Austin Road Elementary School, Mahopac Middle School, and just graduated from Mahopac High School on 20th. It was in Mahopac High school that she really blossomed with the help of her special education teacher Debbie Faba. She joined the drama club and was looking forward to being part of Grease this spring. Erin told someone recently that she did not want to be defined by cancer and when I think of it that is how she lived her life. She met Barney in Tennessee when she was 5, the Cheetah girls when she was 9 and Nick Jonas when she was 12. For many years she went to Ireland to visit her grandparents and family during the summer. She went to Lourdes, France for a Miracle, but one of the most precious places to her, besides Mahopac and Ireland, was Montana. It was there that she met people who really understood her as they were also cancer survivors. In her final days she was visited by Cardinal Timothy Dolan. Erin is survived by her parents Joe and Margaret, brother Jonathan, dog Princess, grandpa Frank, aunt Winnie uncles Gerard, Sean and Martin, many cousins in Ireland, London and here in the USA. Friends and family are welcome to visit on , 2nd from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the Joseph J. Smith in Mahopac. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on , 3rd at 11:30 AM at St. John The Evangelist Church, also in Mahopac. Interment will follow at Assumption in Cortlandt Manor, NY.
