Obituary: Obituary for Rose Marie Beltramo Rose Marie Beltramo was born in Fresno on 6, 1920, and passed away peacefully at The Nazareth House following a several months illness on 16, 2015, just 7 weeks shy of her 95th birthday. During those nine plus decades Rose filled many roles---daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, confidant, and perpetual dispenser of advice and wisdom. She was the first of six children born into an Italian-American family, her parents being Pietro and Angelina Carollo, her siblings being 4 brothers (Sam, Joe, Frank and Pete) and one sister (Angelina). Gifted with an incredibly quick mind and a long, unfailing memory, (which served her throughout her long life) she graduated with honors from Fresno Tech High School in 1936, then promptly put her burgeoning secretarial skills to work in various businesses in Fresno, including the DMV, Roma Winery, and Pacific Telephone . Just near the outbreak of WW II, a friend invited her to accompany her up to Stockton to attend a party. While inherently shy and reserved, she accepted the offer. Cupid apparently was also invited, as Rose met a handsome young San Franciscan name Mario Beltramo, and the attraction was both obvious and mutual. Despite the wars outbreak, the young couple wasn about to allow a world conflict to sidetrack their blossoming relationship, and so, through the exchange of countless trans-Atlantic letters, their love grew and ultimately culminated in the exchange of wedding vows at St. Johns Cathedral on 30, 1945, a marriage blessed by God that grew and matured over more than six decades. Following their marriage Rose and Mario moved to San Francisco, where Mario continued his career in the grocery business while Rose worked in the financial district for Industrial Indemnity Insurance. When their first child, Mario Jr., came along a year later, Rose left the workforce to stay at home, raising her son, and later two daughters, Cathy and Carolyn. When the family became members of Our Lady of Mercy Parish, Rose joined the OLM Womens Club and became an involved parent at OLM Elementary. Upon her sons graduation from high school, and ever being the proponent of higher education though realizing that even then college was not inexpensive and that a second income would be necessary, Rose promptly dusted off her secretarial skills, regained her 100 wpm typing speed, and managed to land a job as a secretary in the Psychology Department at San Francisco State University. There, over the next 20 years---but only after getting up each morning at the crack of dawn to dust her entire house, being the quintessential housekeeper that she was---she would prove to be not only a highly regarded secretary, but perhaps most importantly a confidant and motherly adviser to the many considerably younger women and men who worked with her in the Psych. Dept. Then, in 1991, with Mario Sr.s retirement from the grocery and subsequently the real estate business, this now not-quite-so-young couple decided to return to Roses oots in the San Joaquin Valley, where their children --- and more importantly, their grandchildren--- were then living, and so they moved to Fresno, where Rose was able to reconnect with her siblings and where she and Mario became involved in the Fresno community, joining the Newcomers Club and also becoming devout members of St. Anthonys Parish. And with this new-found proximity to their children, grandchildren, and extended family, Rose and Mario were able to spend much cherished time both attending and participating in frequent family get-togethers, where Grandma never failed to cause a stampede of sorts in the rush for a piece of one of her famous pies, or even more so, for her famous and much anticipated chocolate eclairs (which she made well into her 90s---ever to be imitated, never to be duplicated). It was on such occasions, both large and small, that Rose was most joyful and at peace, for she was never more happy than when enjoying her grandchildrens many ecitals or when dispensing motherly (and grandmotherly) advice to all who asked (and some who didn ). One had only to listen to her to know that she always spoke from the heart, and that her advice (like she herself)was remarkably considerate, thoughtful, kind and compassionate. When Mario Sr. died following a brief illness in 2010, Rose lost her dearest friend, but ever the soldier, she was never one to feel sorry for herself. And so she continued to live independently in her same home, taking up Mario Srs daily ritual of Mass (for her, however, it was at a more comfortable hour---noon) at St. Johns, to be followed by lunch with one of her children or siblings at McDonalds or Dennys, to then be followed at least twice weekly with a drive to Table Mountain in her eye catching golden Honda---still driving well at 94!--- where shed either spend her allotted $50 and go home, or cash in her winnings and then go on a mini-shopping spree! This scenario continued until late 2014, when suddenly Roses remarkable good health gave out, and she required hospitalization for some 10 days in St. Agness ICU, followed by nursing care given so kindly and compassionately by the staff at The Nazareth House. Finally, on Feb. 16, 2015, shortly after receiving the Last Rites, Rose left us and once again rejoined her husband to live together eternally in Heaven. Rose is survived by her children, Mario (and Linda) Beltramo, Cathy (and John) Frye, and Carolyn (and Jeff) Meyer; 11 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren (with the 7th on the way!). She is also survived by her brother, Frank Carollo and his wife, Julie, and by her sister, Angelina and her husband, Joseph Sacca. Obituary: Ernest James Beltramo, age 51, passed away on 15, 2012 after a recent illness. He was born on May 28, 1961 in San Jose, CA to Dorothy and Larry Beltramo. He attended Branham High School and graduated from Live Oak High School in Morgan Hill, CA. Ernie had a long successful career at Rosendin Electric, supervising the construction yard activities. His career at Rosendin led to many close friendships from within the company and the construction community. A resident of Morgan Hill, Ernie was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking and working out. Whether it was duck hunting at Tule Lake or a fishing trip in Mexico, he was always looking forward to the next adventure. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed professional and college football, particularly his Oakland Raiders. Ernie will be especially remembered for his big heart and sense of humor, which endeared himself to many people. Ernie is survived by his brothers and their spouses, Larry and Julie Beltramo of Hollister and John and Kim Beltramo of Morgan Hill; as well as his step-daughters Crystal Jewel and Lisa Meserve; and granddaughters Alaina and Sunshine. Uncle Ernie will be fondly remembered by his niece Jessica Beltramo and nephews Matthew Beltramo, Nicholas Beltramo, Alexander Beltramo and Anthony Beltramo.
