Obituary: Leah Maxine Clover Bell, 90, of Oakley, California and formerly of Springfield, known to all as Maxine, passed away , Dec. 15, 2014, in California, following her quest to return home, in the loving care of the hospice team. Mrs. Bell was born in Lomax, Illinois on 26, 1924, to George M. Clover and Eva M. (Kern) Clover. She went to school in Terre Haute, Illinois and Burlington, Iowa. She married James Edgar Bell on her 22nd birthday on 26, 1946, and he preceded her in death in of 1998. Mr. and Mrs. Bell began their married life together in La Harpe, Illinois. In 1947, they moved to Rolla, Missouri, where Mr. Bell attended university. In 1949, after Mr. Bell's university graduation, they moved to Fort Dodge, Iowa, along with their daughter, Patricia. The family then moved to Nevada, where they lived for two and one half years. In 1952 they moved to Springfield, Illinois, where daughters Pamela and Penny were born. Mrs. Bell was a homemaker for most of her life. She loved to sew and made many clothes for her three daughters. She became employed at a fabric shop in Springfield, Illinois, enjoying the time helping people with their sewing needs. She is a member of the First Christian Church of Springfield, Illinois. Mr. and Mrs. Bell were active members of the Polk of A. organization and danced their way across the USA with polka activities. Mrs. Bell was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and participated in many American Legion program and events. Later in life, Mrs. Bell joined a fitness club and enjoyed water aerobics for many years, making many new friends. In 2010, Mrs. Bell moved to California to live with daughter, Patricia, and her husband, Keith. Mrs. Bell enjoyed her time in California and was involved with Patricia and Keith's clubs, where all the members knew her as "mom". Daughter Pamela and family returned to California in 2011 and the family has fond memories of their times together. In 2014, Patricia, Pamela and Penny, family and friends joined together to celebrate Mrs. Bell's ninetieth birthday. Mrs. Bell is survived by her three daughters: Patricia Bell (Keith Handy), Pamela Musselman (Gene), and Penny Matthiesen (Michael); four grandchildren: Judson Musselman, Zackery Musselman, Lindsay Impson and Casey Vandenberg; and many great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Joan Siegworth (John) and Maxine Clover, many nieces and nephews, and numerous friends. A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on , Dec. 22, 2014, at Bisch and Son , 505 E. Allen St., Springfield, with burial to follow at Camp Butler National . Obituary: Kermit Bell, 97, passed away , 27, 2016 in Redding, CA. He leaves his son; Kenneth Bell and wife Deanna of Moreno Valley, CA; his son Robert Bell and wife Vickie of Redding, CA; his daughter Sheila Ward and husband Ron of Bella Vista, AR; his son Jerry Bell and wife Leslie of Redding, CA; and his son Stan Bell and wife Pernnie of Vernal, UT. He leaves four stepchildren; Gary Scriven of Redding, CA; Delbert Scriven and wife Kathie of Eureka, CA; Vernon Scriven and wife Annabelle of Moses Lake, WA; and Sharon Iwanick and husband Arnie of La , WA. Kermit leaves 13 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and numerous great, great grandchildren. He also leave two brothers, W. G. Bell of Paris, AR. and Charles Bell of Norco, CA. Kermit was preceded in death by his first wife of 44 years, Rubelle Bell of Riverside, CA., his second wife of 20 years, Hazel Bell of Redding, CA. and daughter Camilla Torres of Sacramento, CA. Kermit was born in Enola, AR. on Nov. 7, 1918, the son of Dewey and Doshua Bell. He was raised in AR. and MO. and went on to become a farmer and raised his six children. The family moved to SO. CA. in 1962 where Kermit worked for Kaiser Steel from where he retired. He was an avid baseball player and fan. His favorite team was the St. Louis Cardinals and when the children were growing up it was their past time to play ball or watch the Cardinals, which included trips to St. Louis to watch them play. Until the day he was hospitalized he could tell you the players' batting averages and who was who in the baseball world. When he moved to SO. CA. he formed a sandlot team, managed it and was a pinch hitter. A remark heard in the stands was, "What's this old man doing pinch hitting?" The old man hit a home run! Kermit was also an avid bowler. He bowled in two leagues in Redding. He managed to bowl over 200 a few times while in his nineties. In 2016 he gave up bowling due to physical ailments. He really enjoyed his many friends at the bowling alley. However his family was his biggest passion! He will be dearly missed by all. services will be , 5, 11:00 AM at McDonalds' Chapel at 1275 Continental St. in Redding.
