Obituary: La vida tiene muchos capítulos, algunos son bellos, otros nos hacen fuertes. Quiero compartirles la vida de alguien muy querido. José María Barragán y María de Jesús Oseguera le dieron la bienvenida a este mundo a Guillermina el primero de mayo de 1934. Nació en su querido Morelos #25 en Santa Inés, Michoacán, México. Ella fue una de 11 hermanos y hermanas. Sus padrinos de bautizo fueron Cerapio y Soledad Orozco, de confirmación la Madre Enedina Fernández y de primera comunión la Madre Esperanza Fernández. Durante el tiempo que vivió en Santa Inés, trabajo en la Iglesia de Sagrado Corazón como sacristana y catequista. Además de su dedicación por la iglesia también vendió cenas en la puerta de su casa. Para reírnos un poco, vamos hablar de todas sus aventuras. El día que cumplió los 15 años, una vaca la quiso felicitar con un abrazo, pero en vez de abrazarla la envió volando por los aires. Como si no fuera poco esa felicitación, a los pocos años después otra vaca la corneo y cayo boca abajo en tajos de madera y se lastimo el rostro. En el año 1964 caminando por la plaza de su pueblo, se inició una balacera entre unos hombres, y sin deberla ni temerla, recibió dos balazos. Una de las balas le perforo la pierna y la otra le traspaso la vejiga y los intestinos. Esto le causo peritonitis y derrame interno. Dios le presto más tiempo de vida para así poder darle amor a un bebe que quedó huérfano al nacer. Yo era ese bebe, llegue a su vida con tan solo dos meses de nacido el 18 de agosto de 1965. A los años de haber llegado a su vida, hicieron obispo a José de Jesús Fernández, durante la celebración de este, un cuete le quemo la pierna. A pesar de esto, ella fue a misa. El 6 de febrero de 1980 murió su padre y su madre el 19 de enero de 1986. En agosto de 1986 mi madre, Guillermina y yo llegamos a los Estados Unidos. Ella llego aquí como ilegal. Temporalmente regreso a México para mi boda con Nena el 5 de noviembre de 1988. En noviembre de siguiente año nació su primera nieta, Jazmín. El 21 de diciembre de 1992 nació su segunda nieta, Viviana. Seis años después, el 15 de abril de 1999, nació Giselle, su tercera nieta. Mi mamá se hizo residente de los Estados Unidos en enero de 2001. En Estados Unidos siguió trabajando y durante los fines de semana se quedaba con nosotros. A los 70 años dejo de trabajar y se quedó a vivir con nosotros. Después de su fiesta para celebrar sus 70 años tuvo una operación de corazón abierto. El 25 de agosto de 2014 su salud tomo un giro de 180 grados. Ella era una mujer fuerte a la que le gustaba caminar a la tienda o misa, resolver crucigramas, leer, jugar cartas y tejer. Desafortunadamente le dio un derrame cerebral que le paralizo el lado izquierdo de su cuerpo. Por este motivo su nuevo hogar se convirtió Villa Mesa . Aquí le dieron todos los cuidados necesarios para su condición y también recibió mucho cariño. En abril de 2015 le dio un ataque epiléptico y fue hospitalizada nuevamente. Estos ataques se los controlaron con medicamentos. El día que cambio por completo nuestras vidas fue el miércoles 23 de diciembre de 2015. Le dio otro derrame cerebral que le quito el habla y la habilidad de pasar alimentos. Su corazón estaba débil, a veces latía muy rápido y otras veces muy lento. Ella nunca quiso estar conectada a maquinas, y con todo el dolor de mi alma tome la decisión más difícil de mi vida. El domingo 27 de diciembre regreso a Villa Mesa para descansar los últimos días de su vida; solamente conectada a una máquina de oxígeno. Tomo su último suspiro el sábado 2 de enero de 2016 a las 5:50 de la tarde. A pesar de ser momentos muy difíciles, mi familia y yo nunca habíamos sentido tanto amor y apoyo. Gracias a todas las personas que la visitaron y nos llamaron preguntando por su salud. Hoy día, aunque nos vean tristes por su partida, también estamos contentos por todos los lindos recuerdos e enseñanzas que nos dio. Remigio y familia |

Obituary: On 10, 2014, a long-time resident of Watsonville, Glafira Fernandez Barragan peacefully passed away at her home. Glafira Fernandez Barragan daughter of Guadalupe Valencia and Primitivo Fernandez was born on 31, 1939. She was a native of Mexico and became a resident of Watsonville for 49 years. She was most proud of becoming financially independent and single-handedly raising her five children. Glafira was an accomplished fashion designer/seamstress and Accounting Clerk. She most loved spending her free time in her beautiful garden and taking long walks with her friends. Glafira is known by her friends and neighbors as a person who made this world a little sweeter. Glafira is survived by five children; Maria Estela Barragan, Isabel Barragan, Alfonso Barragan, Luz Noemi Lashmet, and Elizabeth Barragan Buelna. One sister, Benedicta Fernandez and two brothers, Fidel Valencia, Sergio Fernandez and several Grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Visitation services will be held on , 18, 2014 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 PM at Ave Maria Memorial Chapel, 609 Main Street, Watsonville.
