Obituary: ArrangemenPrecious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints. - Psalms 116:15 Truly, the passing of Julita Castillo Bangayan on May 4, 2011, has been carefully watched by our Lord. He has stayed by her bed, smoothed her pillows, guided the hands of her doctors, sustained her heart, and finally, gladly received her soul. And yet, her life on earth He has blessed as much. That life in return has been a blessing to all of us - her family and friends. Looking back to that life of 86 years would take us to three major places. Julita was born to Martin Castillo and Cristeta Lopez on Nov. 18, 1924 in Pozorrubio, Pangasinan, Philippines. She and her two sisters (Dionisia and Juanita) and six brothers (Constantino, Jaime, Hermogenes, Napoleon, Lucio, Eusebio) were raised there. In 1951, she met her husband, Sixto in Pangasinan while walking home from school. a short courtship they where married on 21, 1952 and gave birth to a daughter Evangeline a year later. Shortly after their second child, Minda was born, Julita and Sixto moved to Olongapo City. There, he landed a job at the then Subic Naval Base, while she resumed teaching in 1957, what was to become a long, outstanding, and fruitful teaching career at the Santa Rita Elementary School. Julita taught first graders for 34 years, highlighted with many awards as Teacher of the Year. Her other children- Myrna, Martin, and Sixto Jr. - were born. In over the 20 years, her children would marry and her grandchildren- Dieneal, Darnell, Darwin, Darlene May, Maja, Aie, Aia, Judd and Job - would be born. She then took great passion at being their doting Lola. In 1985, Julita and Sixto migrated in the U.S. Sixto died in 1990, Julita as the matriarch of the family continued to teach them courage, faith, and love. Her pleasures in life were few and simple - watching soaps, game shows, and sports (while cheering either teams), eating healthy, and visiting family in the Philippines. In addition to her four children and grandchildren, Julita is survived by her great grandchildren - Aina, Adien, Sebastian, Ava, and Marziah. A fourth place, we believe, has our mother, grandmother, great grandmother, kin, and friend traveled to: in heaven with God. As Mother Teresa once said, Death is nothing else but going home to God, the bond of love will be unbroken for all eternity.
