Obituary: Robert Samuel Sam Barnes, 64, Gadsden, Alabama, left us to be with the Lord on , 3, 2015. Sam was a native of Etowah and proudly served the City of Gadsden in many ways. He was a police officer with the Gadsden Police Department for almost 30 years and his greatest joy in life was to help and serve others. leaving the Gadsden Police Department in 2000, he relocated to Kennesaw, Georgia, and was employed with Kennesaw State University for several years before returning to Gadsden, the place he loved to call home. For many years, he was a member of the Gadsden Street Rod Association and was recently given an award for his outstanding service. He was proud of this organizations success over the years and considered fellow members as lifelong friends and part of his own family. Sam was an active member of Immanuel Baptist Church of Hokes Bluff, Alabama. He loved and served the Lord and never met a stranger, as he really loved people. He was a fun storyteller and had the heart of a true giver. He was preceded in death by his parents, Loui Joe and Mabel Barnes and is survived by his sister, Pam, his son, Matthew, aunts, cousins and many very special friends who have helped his family beyond measure. Special thanks to Sams doctors as well as the doctors and nurses in the CCU at Riverview Hospital, and the wonderful doctors and staff at Physicians Choice Dialysis of Gadsden. A memorial service will be held on , 22, 2015, 2p.m. at Immanuel Baptist Church, Hokes Bluff, Alabama, with Pastor Anthony Copeland officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the church Sam loved \ Immanuel Baptist Church, 3680 Old U.S. Highway 278 E., Hokes Bluff, Alabama, 35903 or the charity of your choice. Obituary: Rankin Barnes, Jr. - a 54 year-old native of Mobile and resident of Bay Minette passed away , 28, 2015. Mr. Barnes worked for Wesco Distributing for many years and was currently employed with Graybar Electric. He loved riding his motorcycle, hunting and fishing. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bay Minette. Mr. Barnes was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 31 years, Linda Ann Barnes, and mother, Doris Jean Lancaster.
