Obituary: Jerald Beasley, 93, went to be with his Lord on 24, 2015, surrounded by family. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on , 27, with another hour of visitation immediately prior to the funeral. The funeral and burial will begin at 11 a.m. on , 28. All events will take place at Lakewood South , 430 McCluer Road, Jackson MS 39212. Born 24, 1922 in Buhl, Alabama, Jerald was the only son of John William and Audrey Enola Oxford Beasley. He spent his early years in Ansley and Jonesboro, Louisiana and graduated from Jonesboro-Hodge High School. He graduated from Louisiana Tech University where he participated in football and band. He was a Captain in the Marine Corps and served during World War II and the Korean War. Jerald was preceded in death by his parents, wife Ernestine Mae Lucky Beasley, wife Ruth Utley Beasley, and stepson David Randolph Green. He is survived by his wife, Vida Irene Lord Green Beasley, son John William Beasley (Linda), daughter Jeri Ruth Beasley (Robin Barnes), grandchildren Candice Angela Beasley VanSant (Charles), Jessie Nicholas Beasley (Angel), and Jennifer Noel Beasley, and 3 great-grandchildren. Jerald is also survived by his daughter, Sherryl Lynn Green McAlilly (David), and grandchildren Jonathan Carter McAlilly and Brodie Jackson McAlilly. Jerald was a loving husband, father, friend and a well-known Professional Mechanical Engineer in the state of MS. He was a long-time member of Leavell Woods United Methodist Church. |

Obituary: Effie Cowart Beasley, 98, passed away on 12, 2017 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, Misssissippi. She was born 30, 1918, in Blytheville, Arkansas, to the late Joseph and Anna Cowart. Effie graduated from Merigold High School in 1936 and then received her degree in in 1939. She married Wilbur Beasley in 1942 and raised her family in Meridian. She retired from Rileys Hospital after a thirty five year career as a surgical nurse. In 1985 Wilbur and Effie moved to the Brandon area to be near family. In her retirement, Effie continued using her nursing skills to care for relatives, friends, church members, and even residents at her nursing home. When her health permitted, she also enjoyed needle pointing, cross stitching and working in her flowers. Survivors include her sons--Bernie (Cathy) Beasley of Charleston, South Carolina, and Ray (Marsha) Beasley of Brandon, Mississippi-- and her sister Ethel Schmidt of Southaven, Mississippi. She also leaves four grandchildren-- Jennifer (Steve) Brown, Bern Beasley, Lee Ann (David) Rings, and J (Sarah) Beasley -- Eight great-grandchildren-- Will Fagan, Christian Fagan, Logan Kelly, Piper Brown, Will Beasley, Anna Caroline Beasley and Ann Fondren Rings-- and a host of nieces and nephews. She also leaves a special caregiver, Nicole Moore. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Wilbur Beasley, brothers, Elbert Cowart, Frank Cowart, Arthur Cowart, M. J. Cowart, and Dennis Cowart and her sisters , Clara Biggers, Pauline Finley, Lulu Fink, Lucille Dennis, and Mary Glass. services will be at 11:00am 14, 2017 at Parkway in Ridgeland preceded by visitation at 10:00am. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to your favorite charity. under the direction of Parkway , Ridgeland, MS. |
