Obituary: Patricia A. Bogdziewicz, age 88, died peacefully at St. John Hospital and Medical in Detroit on 19, 2015 after a long illness. Patricia was born on 6, 1926 at Cottage Hospital in Grosse Pointe Farms, the daughter of William and Mary Gutenberg. She graduated from Southeastern High School in 1944 and began working at Packard Motor Car . At about the same time, 21 year old William Bogdziewicz was also working at Packard, but in the other building connect by an overpass walkway. Pat and Bill talked on the phone frequently for work, and finally met on that overpass one day during lunch and the rest was history. married at St. John Berchman Church in Detroit. Pat left Packard and became a homemaker and full time mother. In her spare time, she enjoyed golf, travel, summer vacations at various cottages across the state, tennis, swimming and just plain spending time with her family. She was a loving grandmother and always had time for her grandkids. She was also an animal lover and was never without a pet. She volunteered time with the Detroit Convention Bureau as a Red Coat. Mrs. Bogdziewicz is survived by her six children, Ronald Bogen, Tom Bogdziewicz (Georgia), Clint Bogen (Joan), William Bogdziewicz, Jr. (Kathy), Terrianne Kachmar (Ron) and John Bogdziewicz (Adriana); and her eight adoring grandchildren, Marty (Favi), Jimmy, Billy, Jeff, Tommy (Nicole), Trish, Natalie and Tori. She was predeceased by her husband William in 2012 after 67 years of marriage. Visitation will be held on from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the A. H. Peters , 20705 Mack Avenue at Vernier Road in Grosse Pointe Woods. The Holy Rosary will be recited at 7:00 oclock evening. Her body will lie instate at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 467 Fairford Road at Morningside in Grosse Pointe Woods from 11:00 a.m. until mass begins at 11:30 a.m. Monsignor Gary Smetanka will officiate. The family has suggested memorial donations be made to Adrian Dominican Sisters, 1257 East Siena Heights Drive; Adrian, Michigan 49221. |
