Obituary: Golder Benson, age 91 of Norton Shores, passed away , 15, 2016. She was born May 17, 1924 to Arzo and Cora Cole. Golder was a member of the Bridge Bible Church. She loved gardening, quilting, fishing, cooking, and spending time with family. Golder was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Paul Benson; and her brothers and sisters. She is survived by her children, Wilma Faulkner, Erby (Anita) Benson, Paul (Peggy) Benson Jr., Roger D. Benson, Jim (Jana) Benson, Darlene Flier, Gloria Kenney, Tina Grosswiler, and Jeff (Carla) Benson; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends. A funeral for Golder will be on , 17, 2016 at 12pm at Bridge Bible Church; 5035 Henry St. in Muskegon. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10-12pm. Interment is at Fruitport Township . In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bridge Bible Church. |

Obituary: Dorothy Elizabeth (nee Sorensen) Benson of Van Auken Lake, Hartford, MI, formerly of Orland Park, IL, passed away peacefully at her home on 11, 2016. She was preceded in death by Roy, her loving husband of 62 years and her brother Christian Sorensen. Their seven children include Richard (Priscilla), Carole (Richard) Benson-Weinberg, Robert, Thomas (Crissie), Gregory (Rachel), Christopher (Nancy), and Kathleen (Chuck) Goro. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren: Eric and Alida Benson, Meghan Matz, Suzannah Weinberg, Michael Benson, Sonja Hershkowitz, Carla Benson, Christopher and Andrew Benson, Grace, Charlie and Gwen Goro, and eight great grandchildren, Elise and Claire Benson, Caroline, John, Olivia and Lucy Matz, Soren and Charlotte Hershkowitz. Dorothy was born on 15, 1924 on Chicagos great south side, the daughter of P. Christian and Anna Marie Sorensen. She was a loving wife, mother and homemaker to her family in Orland Park until Roys retirement. then moved to beautiful Van Auken Lake in southwest Michigan. An expert seamstress, Dorothy made exquisite clothing and blankets for her children and grandchildren. Her home was always filled with the wonderful aroma of fresh baked bread, cookies and sweet rolls. Family and friends were always welcome for smorgasbords and music. As she always desired, Moomie happily resided in her home until her last day. The family will greet friends from 9 – 10 AM (CST) on , 16, 2016 at Goodale Memorial Chapel, 912 S. Hamilton St, Lockport, IL 60441. A memorial service will follow at 10 AM. |
