Obituary: Jean Barritt of Eastham, Massachusetts formerly of Tariffville, Connecticut,daughter of the late William and Jean Douglas, died peacefully on May 10th at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis. Born in Boston, MA., Jean graduated from North Quincy High School and the RN program at the Faulkner Hospital in Boston, after which she practiced nursing into the 1960s before becoming a full time homemaker. Jean is survived by her beloved husband of 63 years Jack Barritt; her children Craig Douglas (Audrey) Barritt, Jane Elizabeth (Steven) Paine, Scott William (Aw) Barritt; grandmother of Christy, Jason, Rebecca, Cathryn, and Theodore; great-grandmother of Oliver, Conrad, and Alejandro. Jean had many interests but her most sincere love was for her family and friends and she tended to them with love and devotion. Through her more than 30 years living on the Cape, Jean volunteered in many capacities at the Eastham COA including the "the Bread Run" which she and Jack did for many years. She was also an enthusiastic participant in the COA exercise classes under Janet's strict tutelage. On the Cape there was camping and swimming, long walks out onto the flats teaching the kids about squirting razor clams, and how to spy a hidden crab's claw or mend those toes that missed it. Jean was always on the lookout for the Spring arrival of the hummingbirds, a magical sunset over Target View Beach, and loved the spectacular colors of Fall in New England. Trips "off Cape" with Jack included exploring the U.S. National Parks as well as travels to other parts of the world. Obituary: East Orleans, MA \ Helene Parker Barrington, 87, passed away peacefully at home on , 2, 2015 after a long struggle with Alzheimers disease. She was heart broken after the death of the love of her life, Evan Barrington, in , 2013 after 64 years of marriage. Helene and Evan loved to travel, visiting every continent except Antarctica. In the winter they skied in the White Mountains of New Hampshire; in the summer they enjoyed their large extended family on Pochet Island in East Orleans. Helene was an exceptional athlete and played tennis well into her 80s. If you played at net against her, expect to get the ball returned low, fast and hard. Helene was born on May 29, 1927 in Boston, the daughter of Philip S. Parker Jr. and Helen Rockwell. Her mother died in childbirth when she was 7. Her father remarried two years later to Frances Grabiel. Helene loved Fran and her half brother & sister, Philip and Susie (Quenzer) they all predeceased her. Helene grew up on Glen Road, Brookline, MA, and retained many life long friendships from that neighborhood. She attended The Winsor School, Boston, and the Saint Luke's Hospital School of in New York City. Upon graduation she worked as a nurse at Columbia-Presbyterian Hospital in N.Y.C. While there she met Evan Barrington at a Sadie Hawkins Dance. were married on 1, 1949 at the Church of Our Savior in Brookline, MA. Upon Evans graduation from Columbia in 1952, the couple returned to live in Helenes childhood home in Brookline. There they stayed until the summer of 1959. By then their four children were born. Then the family started to move because of Evans work; Birmingham, MI for 3 years; Fribourg, Switzerland for 3 years, Bloomfield Hills, MI for 3 year and Chatham, NJ. for 13 years. Helene became quite accomplished at holding the family together through all of these moves. Helene became involved in many community, church and athletic activities while in NJ. Most notable was the Chatham Volunteer Emergency Squad. She became the first female Captain of the squad. In 1981, as empty nesters, they moved to Acton, MA. In 2002 they built their dream home in East Orleans, affectionately called the "Briar Patch." For the last two years their daughter Nancy has lived with them and assisted both Evan and Helene to live out their lives at home. Helene was devoted to her four children, Lynn McCleary (Bob) Muscatine Iowa, Nancy Crewdson (Dick) Orleans, MA, Tom Barrington (Linda) Chelmsford, MA, and Brian Barrington (Mary Jane) Somersworth, NH. She had 8 cherished grandchildren and 4 great grand children; Douglas Barrington (Francine) and Henry, Baltimore MD; Carol Crewdson, San Francisco, CA; Heather Smith (Stuart) and Cora, Lincoln, CA; Susan Arbeiter (Scott) Emma & Clara, Woodbridge, VA; Jennifer Barrington, Chelmsford, MA; Heidi Jones (Benjamin) Goshen, KY; Chase Crewdson, Pasadena, CA; Katy Crewdson, San Francisco, CA. She leave behind her brother-in-law, Larry Quenzer, San Rafael, CA and her niece Beverly Quenzer (Joshua Bruce) Portland, OR. She also leaves behind many cousins who loved her dearly. Family and friends are welcomed to celebrate her life at the Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit, 204 Monument Road, Orleans, MA 02653 on , 14th, at 11 AM. A reception will follow in the Parish Hall.
