Obituary: Clyde W. Baker Portland, ME Clyde W. Baker, 79, of Portland, died peacefully on , 29, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. Clyde was born in , TX on 20, 1934. He attended Texas schools and was a college graduate. graduation Clyde enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served his country for over twenty years, retiring on 1, 1975 with the rank of Master Sergeant. Following his military career Clyde worked various jobs in the local community. He loved to travel and visit family in Texas, and in his younger years he enjoyed camping. Clyde was a quiet man that enjoyed the simpler things in life. Predeceasing Clyde was his wife, and love of his life Rose Minor Baker. Surviving are his children; Tammy McLaskey of Portland, Rose Mary Baker-Todd of MO, Crystal Dorizzi of Ct, Ruby Humiston of Westbrook, Nina Dean of Portland, Terry Lilar of Rockland, ME, Andre Baker of Germany, Tanya Baker of Germany, Manwella Kriebel of Germany; brothers Kenneth and Maurice of Texas, a dear granddaughter Penny McLaskey of Portland, and several other grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family members. Obituary: OLD TOWN - Our beloved mother, Agnes Mary (Hebert) Baker, 96, wife of the late Ernest Baker, died Nov. 2, 2009, at a Bangor health care facility. She was born Aug. 10, 1913, in Old Town, and was the birth child of Joseph and Beatrice (Landry) Godin, the adopted daughter of Theresa (Godin) and Napoleon Hebert, and later the stepdaughter of Louis Pelletier, all of Old Town. Agnes graduated from Old Town High School, Class of 1931, and worked as a receptionist before her marriage to Ernest, Sept. 3, 1935. During the early years, they lived in Belfast, Searsport and Bucksport, the later years in Old Town, and for 20 years enjoyed winters in St. Petersburg, Fla. She was a lifelong communicant of Holy Family Church of Old Town, and was a member of Daughters of Isabella and Knights of Columbus Auxiliary. Agnes was a talented lady, accomplished in classical piano, enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting, and was known for her wonderful cooking. She made more than 65 afghans for family members and passed down many of her special recipes. She particularly enjoyed playing bridge and computer games, doing crossword puzzles, following the Red Sox, and working on her lifes journal - recording many events of family history. She will be remembered fondly for entertaining family gatherings both at her home and at the family cottage on Alamoosook Lake. Agnes and her husband gave all of their children a love and appreciation of music, which has now been passed down to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren - for music can be a healer, especially when coupled with faith in God. These last 10 years have been difficult for Agnes as she watched her contemporaries and many family members leave their earthly home. However, it was during these years that her quiet strength and faith held her family together. She received compassionate and loving care from her four children; the staff at The Meadows Assisted Living, Old Town; Stillwater , Bangor; and Hospice of Eastern Maine. She was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Ernest; three brothers, the Rev. Father Arthur Godin, SSS, John Godin and Francis Godin; and sisters, Rita Nadeau and Bernadette Haley. She is survived by her children, Joanne Olsen of Bradley, Constance England and her husband, Robert, of The Villages, Fla., Margaret Comeau and her husband, Frank, of Old Town, and Peter Baker of Old Town; her grandchildren, Gregory Hutchins and his wife, Deidra, of Winthrop, Christopher Hutchins and his wife, Dorothy, of North Vassalboro, Jeffrey Hutchins and his wife, Betsy, of Leeds, Robert England Jr. and his wife, Alison, of Waldoboro, Ann (England) Maxim and her husband, Dana, of Old Town, Michael England of Londonderry, Vt., Julie (Comeau) Reeves and her husband, Jonathan, of Old Town, and Scott Comeau and his partner, Marguerite Berube, of Plaistow, N.H.; her great-grandchildren, Celia Hutchins, Travis Hutchins, Andrew Hutchins and his wife, Heather, and Benjamin Hutchins, Hilary and Kelsey Maxim, Robert Dominic England, and Kari, Nathan and Abby Reeves; several nieces, nephews and cousins. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. , Nov. 6, at Holy Family Church of the Resurrection of the Lord Parish, Old Town. Burial will be after at Saint Joseph . the burial, friends and family are invited to gather in the church hall for light refreshments.
