Obituary: Shreveport, LA- services celebrating the life of Essie Pearl Bardwell Burton, 94, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on , 10, 2015 at St. Mathias Episcopal Church. Interment will follow in Centuries Memorial Park. A reception will be held at the church in the parish hall following the interment. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on , 9, 2015 at Centuries Memorial . Essie Pearl entered eloquently into Heaven's arms on 5, 2015, surrounded by her family after a sudden illness. Essie Pearl was born in Marshall, TX and raised in Shreveport. She graduated from Fair Park High School. While married to her husband Roy, they lived in several states including California and Hawaii, before returning to Shreveport. Roy's death, she lived in Ft. Lauderdale, FL before returning to Shreveport for her remaining years. Up until her death, Essie Pearl was an independent, vibrant lady. She was a longtime member of St. Matthias Episcopal Church. Those that knew her best were in awe of her many artistic abilities. She was a true artist at heart. She enjoyed making handmade quilts for herself and others. Essie Pearl enjoyed painting porcelain China having just recently re-joined LOPAC of Shreveport. Later in life, she traveled with her beloved companion, Dave Denison, to many gun shooting competitions. She was a member of chapter 2209 of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. She loved playing bingo at her church and was always excited when she won. Essie Pearl was preceded in death by her father and mother, Curtis W. Bardwell and Minnie Mae Rains Bardwell; her brother Jewel; three sisters, Thelma, Joyce and ; her husband, Roy Louis Burton; son, Donald Glen Burton and her beloved companion, Dave Denison. Left to cherish beautiful memories of Essie Pearl is her daughter, Frances Diane Faulkner Haddad and son, Curtis Daniel Burton both of Shreveport; grandchildren, Deanna Haddad of Shreveport, Debbie Garrett and husband Bill of Madison, AL, Tonya Burton, Daniel Burton and Donna Burton; great grandchildren, Caitlin Garrett and Lauren Garrett of Madison, AL, Micah Burton and Mackala Burton. Pallbearers will be: Bill Garrett, Steve Grayson, Michael Grayson, Daniel Burton, Henry Bernstein and Ken Heft. Obituary: Edward Richard Burton, Jr. age 74 passed 11, 2015 of heart complications. Survived by his son, Benjamin Edward Burton Manuel (Beth); grandson, Benjamin Burton Manuel (Yulianna); granddaughter, Brandi Manuel; great-grandchildren, Miya, Maria, and Dylan Benjamin Manuel, all of Louden, TN, Katelyn Marie Hoover, Tyler J. Burton, and Sidney Stieb, all of Hammond; brother, Richard Edward Burton; sisters, Marlene Burton Gobin and Nadine Burton Lagarde; many nieces and nephews which he adored…and special nephew, Jesse Paul Lagarde. Edward was a retired Hammond Fire Fighter, expert housepainter/carpenter, a member of Antique Car Club of Mississippi. He most enjoyed driving his 1986 Chevy Caprice and 1980 Dodge Truck and making collages from family photos. Edward took pride in being the great grandson of Vito Graziano who started Rose Memorial (naming the cemetery after his daughter Rose Graziano). Preceded in death by his daughter, Rebranda Grace Burton; infant son, Mitchell John Burton; parents, Edward Richard, Sr. and Grace Graziano Burton; maternal grandparents, Frank Vito and Emma Denham Graziano; paternal grandparents, Richard Edward and Evelyn Born Burton; sisters, Evelyn Grace Burton White and Helen Lois Burton Core; first wife, Eileen Johnson Burton Manuel. Burton, her beloved husband whom she married 67 years ago in Seattle, where he was stationed on the USS Enterprise; two daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and Will Courtney, Prairieville, and Cynthia and Stan Hughes, Baton Rouge; son and daughter-in-law, Dirk and Nancy Sue Burton, Baton Rouge; grandchildren, Rodney Durbin, of Waynesville, N.C., Shane and spouse Yvette Hughes, of Austin, Texas, Jeremy and spouse Alyson Hughes, of OFallon, Ill., Ashley Hughes, Clay Burton, and Jill and spouse Quintin Brakebill, all of Baton Rouge; and great-grandchildren, Seth, Kyle, and Sarah Hughes, all of Austin, Josie Hughes, Wright, Claire, and Sydney Brakebill, all of Baton Rouge. Predeceased by her parents, Henry Audley Richardson and Catherine Louise Alexis Richardson; and siblings, Isobel "Tiny" Jurecka, Juanita Savoy Templet, Clyde Richardson, Dorothy "Dot" Thomassie, Henry Ray Richardson.
