Obituary: Zara Mae Daigle Blanchard, age 84, passed away peacefully at her home, during the night of 30th, 2017. Born in Paincourtville, she was a lifelong resident of Pierre Part. Survivors include one daughter, Bonnie Blanchard Witter and her husband Dwayne, three sons, Phil Blanchard and his wife Sharon, John Paul Blanchard and his wife Thérèse, and Paul Blanchard, one brother, Rives Daigle and his wife Lorina, and five grandchildren, Phil Jr., and his wife Megan, James, Annelise, Brigitte and Megan Blanchard, Sister in law Verna Daigle, brother in law Herman Blanchard and wife Sadie, and many nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip PJ Blanchard, her brother, Bobby Daigle, her father Walter Bye Daigle and mother Agathe Theriot Daigle. Ms. Zara was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was a devout Catholic and loved her faith and her heritage. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters Court #1901 Our Lady of the Island and served as a past Regent and member of American Legion Auxiliary #328. She spoke fondly of her time working with Dr. Alfred Delahaye at Nicholls State University; working at Economical Wholesale in Belle Rose; and she enjoyed her many years teaching English & religion classes in Pierre Part. She and PJ owned and managed Blanchards IGA store for over fifty years. She was an avid reader and devoted AHS, LSU and Saints football fan. She was a native French speaker and an adept English language writer, contributing to various local papers through the years. The family would like to thank the many neighbors, friends and family from Pierre Part, throughout Assumption Parish and beyond that assisted her and gave her much joy and many good memories throughout the years. Pallbearers will be Phil Blanchard, John Paul Blanchard, Paul Blanchard, Dwayne Witter, Phil Blanchard Jr, James Blanchard, Adam Blanchard & Gary Landry. Visitation will be observed at Ourso in Pierre Part on , May 7, 2017 from 5:30 to 10:00 PM and on , May 8, 2017 from 8:00 AM until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am, at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, celebrated by Fr. Obituary: ST. MARTINVILLE \ A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Wilton Bebe Blanchard, 85, at 1:00 pm , 29, 2014 at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church. Fr. Rusty Richard will be the celebrant and conduct the Mass. Mr. Blanchard will be laid to rest with his beloved wife Eunice in St. Michaels Mausoleum. A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline of St. Martinville on from 9:00 am until 12:30 pm. Wilton, known by family and friends as Bebe, was born 20, 1929 in St. Martin Parish, and passed away peacefully on , 27, 2014 at Iberia Extended Hospital. Wilton was a veteran of the United States Army. He has been a lifelong butcher having worked with A&P, Winn Dixie, and Piggly Wiggly throughout the Acadiana area. But most will remember Bebe from the beautiful and plentiful garden that he tended. He enjoyed caring for his garden and having the chance to supply the community with fresh vegetables. His other passion was raising his animals, especially his dogs. He will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his dear friends and caregivers for many years, Andre and Kathy Blanchard, and their children, Brayden and Blaine Blanchard, who looked upon Bebe as a grandfather. He is also survived by his sisters, Lorena Olivia, Mary Ann Delcambre, Anna Lee Girouard, and Pauline Blanchard Hamann; his faithful dogs, Stinky and Rusty; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eunice Badeaux Blanchard; his parents, Ambroise and Adolphine Melancon Blanchard; and brothers, Paul and Louis Blanchard. Serving as pallbearers will be Andre, Brayden, Blaine, Tee, and Randy Blanchard (his godchild), and Joe Richard.
