Obituary: Shelton Primm Byrd 85, of Junction City, Arkansas passed away 17, 2014. He was born 30, 1928 to William Byrd and Leta Primm Byrd in Three Creeks, Arkansas. Mr. Byrd was a retired firefighter for the United States Navy, a member of the VFW and the American Legion. He was also a member of Hopewell Baptist Church. He is preceded by his parents; his sisters, Elizabeth Wilson and Murriell Crawford, and his brothers, Bill Byrd, and Doyne Byrd. Also his daughter Leta Byrd Danford. Surviving him are his daughters Sheila Byrd Venverloh (Richard) Lake Livingston, Texas and Donnita Cope (Jacob) of El Paso, and his brother Johnny A. Byrd of Shreveport, LA, and his uncle, Kirk Primm. Also surviving are his , granddaughters, Stormy Smith (Dennis) and Misty Danford , and grandsons, Stacy ChumleyJacob Cope II, Tyler Cope and John Shelton Cope.along with his great-grandchildren, Ian Chumley,John Sledge, Destiny Nispal, Tanner Nispal, Samantha Nispel, Ricky Nispal. With him at his passing were his long-time girlfriend, Joan Bagwell and long-time friend, Gary McGoogan. Visitation will be 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Services with military honors will be , 1:00 pm 22, 2014 at Young's Chapel with Ben Byrd officiating. Burial will be at Brown in Three Creeks, Arkansas under the direction of Young's Directors. Obituary: Otha Maldry Byrd, 87, of Little Rock, passed away peacefully in the early morning of 27, 2014, at the Veterans Memorial Hospital in Little Rock. He was born on 14, 1927 in Frisco City, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sydney and Emma Byrd, and by his seven siblings. Maldry is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Dorothy L. Byrd; three children, Sharron Byrd Cossey (Dennis) of Little Rock, AR; Debra Byrd of Brookwood, AL; and Dwain M. Byrd (Tracy) of Fayetteville, AR; and two grandchildren, John Byrd and Daniel Byrd, both of Fayetteville. Maldry proudly served his country as a 20-year veteran in the United States Air Force. The following year he went on to work as a manager for the Arkansas Employment Security Division until retiring. Maldry was a life-long Southern Baptist and longtime member of Geyer Springs Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Free and Accepted Masons. Maldry's Christian principles and strength of character was the cornerstone of a long and fruitful life. He was a devoted husband and loving father who always put his family first. Graveside services with Military Honors will be held on , 3rd at 11:00 am at Pinecrest Memorial Park, on Highway 5, in Alexander. The family would like to express a word of thanks to the staff at Southern Trace in Bryant for the kind care given to him during his time living there. We would also like to praise the Little Rock Veterans Administration for the compassionate and quality care administered by all doctors and medical personnel. Obituary: Neta Shelby Byrd, 78, passed away 10, 2015, in Fort Smith, AR. She was born in Charleston, Arkansas on 15, 1936. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hobart McKinley & Gussie Brown Shelby; her sisters Inez DeVito, Gladys Henningson, Annette Moore, Martha Graney and Mary Lou Shelby; brothers, Ralph, Jim & Harry Shelby. Neta Byrd was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother to her family. She took great joy in the successes of her children and grandchildren. Her love and talent for giving to others was found in the many clothes, quilts, afghans and angel pins that she made, never letting her very limited eyesight slow her down. She loved to cook and she spread great joy to her family and friends through the many meals, cookies and desserts that she prepared. A woman of great faith, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Charleston, AR, the Ford School Class and United Methodist Womens Priscilla Circle. She was a proud alumna of Line High School and an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and the Arkansas Razorbacks. She was known to many by her nickname, Dink, which she received as a child growing up in Branch. Neta is survived by her husband, David Lee Byrd; a daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and David Humphrey of Fort Smith, AR and two sons, David Martin Byrd of Blue Springs, MO and Brent Byrd of Barling, AR. She is survived by two sisters, Nadine Schramm of New York, NY and Frances Teufel of Wauwatosa, WI. She is also survived by a brother‐in‐law, Henry Graney of Elgin, IL. She is survived by her grandchildren Meredith and Tommy Moll of Little Rock, AR; Julia and Josh Carmack of Rogers, AR; Claire Humphrey of Fayetteville, AR; Tyler and Lainey Byrd of Del Rio, TX and Andy Byrd of Austin, TX. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews around the United States. Pallbearers will be Lyman Root, Duncan Dozier, Benny Stubblefield, Mark Lee, Mitchell Wells and Butch Henningson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Todd Patterson, Stanley Wells, Carl Underwood and Dwight Mantooth. Service will be 14 at 10:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Charleston, AR with interment to follow at Nixon in Charleston, AR under the direction of Smith Mortuary.
