Obituary: Loyd Roosevelt Brents, 95, of Cleveland, Arkansas, died 30. Born 4, 1919, to school teachers Marvin and Rose Brents, he was the eldest of four children. He was predeceased by sister Hazel Bynum and brothers, Harold and Carl Boad Brents. He was a part of a large Brents clan and had 56 first cousins. Brents was a Church of Christ minister, preaching his first sermon at age 16. He graduated from Harding University and maintained a lifelong love of the school and connection to it. He ministered in Oklahoma and Arkansas during the active years of his ministry. Until recent months, he was still called on to do short meetings and funerals for friends in the area. A remarkable handy man, he was adept at fixing things or building things. Two unfinished airplanes are in his garage and the Cleveland hangar today. He loved to fly and held a pilots license for many, many years. He met and married Joyce Nethercutt in Oklahoma City in 1962 and they led an active and rewarding life together. Traveling to the Holy Land, points across the United States, and acting as tour guide for friends and relatives who visited them in Phoenix, they loved it all. Joyce preceded him in death in 2007. His extended family included grandchildren and great-grandchildren; he taught one of his grandchildren to crawl (he claimed) on the floor of a rental house in Phoenix. Noted for his thrifty ways, he was a great one to find a bargain, to repair rather than replace, and to conserve resources at every opportunity. Described by brother Boad as a full-time handyman and part-time preacher, he was constantly at work on one project or another. Upon his return from Phoenix to Cleveland, he began a newspaper column that continued until this month in the Petit Jean Headlight. He loved keeping track of the people in his area and informing folks of good and bad happenings that affected them. Brents is survived by a daughter, Alice Ann Goldie, of Arizona; step-daughters Carolene of Texas and Gerene of Arizona, and step-sons Lanny and Laddie of Oklahoma. There are numerous grandchildren and great-children who knew and loved him. will be , 3, at 2:00 p.m. at the New Liberty Church of Christ near Cleveland. Ted Knight will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour before the service, and burial will be in the Brents . are by Harris of Morrilton. Obituary: J.W. Brents, of Little Rock, passed on to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at home on 13, 2015. J.W. was born in Cleveland, Arkansas on 13, 1934 to Charlie and Gladys Brents. moved to Morrilton when J.W. was nine years old and resided there. J.W. was a brick mason foreman for W.E. Clark Construction for 28 years before becoming Secretary Treasury Business Agent for Union No. 1 for 8 ½ years. During this time, he and general contractor Jack McGothin established The and Welfare Fund for the Union Bricklayers and Tilesetters of Local No. 1 of Arkansas. He also established a fund enabling Brickmasons to receive pensions and benefits. He then worked for Bricklayers International Union in Royale, Arkansas as an instructor for bricklayers. J.W. loved gardening, fishing, and hunting with his children and grandchildren. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will be sorely missed by his family, friends, and church friends, all whom he loved dearly. J.W. is preceded in death by his father and mother, sisters, Mildred and Ruby, brother, Burlen, and great granddaughter, Madelyn Diane. J.W. is survived by his wife of sixty two years, Cloyce Ogden Brents and four children; Mark and wife Lillian of Little Rock, Pamela Brents Roberts of Little Rock; Jay Alan Brents of Holland, Arkansas, and Jennifer Brents Remow of Sheridan; eight grandchildren, Rachel Brents McBride and husband Carl of Benton, Cloyce Kathleen Brents Brooks and husband Brian of Bryant; Joshua Williams of Little Rock; Holly Brents of Little Rock, Jason Brents and Matthew Brents of Heber Springs; Leanna Remow Bitzer and husband, Caemeron of Sheridan, and Brent Remow of Bryant; twelve great grandchildren. services will be 2:00 p.m. , 18 at Harris Chapel with Bro. Bob Minick officiating. Burial will be at Elmwood by Harris of Morrilton. The family will receive friends one hour before the service. Pallbearers will be Caemeron Bitzer, Holly Brents, Jeff Corbitt, Jimmy Craig, Dean Martin, Eric Ogden, and Greg Ogden. Obituary: Jackie Glen Brent, 78, of Fordyce died 9, 2015 at Baptist Medical in Little Rock. Born 2, 1936, he was the son of the late Glen Brent and Edna Kauffman Cook. He was owner and operator of Farindale, Inc. for 37 years and a member of Fordyce First United Methodist Church. He was very active in the community and surrounding area, being in the A-Z Investment Club, a member of the board of directors at Regions Bank and Grant Savings & Loan, and serving as a Fordyce City Alderman. He enjoyed fishing and turkey hunting. He was a loving father, father -in-law, and grandfather. He will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Sue Brent. He is survived by his sons Clark Brent and wife Penny of Fordyce, Stuart Brent and wife Debra of Benton; grandchildren Jack Brent of Fordyce, Hayden and Ryan Brent of Benton; brother-in-law Larry Guynn of Maumelle; and dear friend Annette Freer of Ivan. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Benton in Fordyce. services will be 10:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Fordyce with Dusty Rhodes and Rev. Bill Cato officiating.
