Obituary: Richard Lee Dick Bird, 81, of El Dorado, AR passed away on 8, 2016 at Baptist in Little Rock, AR. He was born 23, 1935 in Paris, AR and was the son of Leslie Bird and Irene Carroll Bird Ellington. He was a member of the National Horsemans Benevolent and Protective Association. His love of sports began at an early age. He was a 4-sport letterman at North Little Rock High School, where he excelled at each position he played. He began his career early in the bread business where he moved up quickly through the Wonder Bread/Hostess Cake . He continued his passion for the food industry by joining Sysco Foods, where he was a top salesperson. He and his wife Gayle bought the Town House Restaurant in 1988 and continue to operate it today. retiring from Sysco, he got to live out his dream of being a thoroughbred racehorse owner. He had several winning horses over his 20 plus year horse racing career. He was a father figure to many people. He took grandchildren, nieces and nephews into his home and treated them like his own children. He mentored many people in his career as well. He will forever be known as everyones Paw Paw. Richard was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bill Bird; sister, Bobbye Kay Ellington; son, Craig Edward Bird; great granddaughter, Sierra Berry; and a special nephew, Shane Barron. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Gayle Bird of El Dorado; two sons, Richard Bird (Teresa) of Jacksonville, AR and Mike Bird (Glenda) of El Dorado; three daughters, Rhonda Henderson (Robert) of Memphis, TN, Brenda Kellogg of Little Rock and Robin Buchanan (Adam) of El Dorado, many loved grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren and a host of nephews and nieces. A Gathering will be 2:00-4:00 p.m., , 17, 2016 at Youngs Directors Chapel. Obituary: Jerry Mikel Bird, 37, of Greenwood passed away , 21st, 2016. He was born in Fort Smith and lived his life as though it were a great adventure. He loved hunting, fishing, and being outdoors. He owned Advantage Appraisal, a real estate appraisal business. He is survived by his parents, Jim and Teresa Bird; sisters Krissi Beeks and husband William and Cara Morland and husband Daniel; and fiancé Billie Henson and her son Drayke whom he considered and loved as his own. He is also survived by his grandmother, Barbara Bird and grandparents, Bob and Pat Pierce. He is preceded in death by his grandfather, James Marion Bird, Sr; great-grandmother Frances May and great-great aunt, Billie Hamm. Uncle YaYa was dedicated to being the best uncle to his nieces and nephews Applesnail (Presley Abigail Beeks) Brubber (Crosby Beeks,) Tin (Remington Eli Morland,) and Perse (Pierce Morland). Service will be 10:00 am , 27, 2016 at Central Christian Church in Fort Smith with interment at Forest Park cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of McConnell of Greenwood. Family will visit will friends from 5 pm to 7:30 pm at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Ryan Sterling, Alen Hurt, Wayne Henson, Chad Beshears, Josh Allen, Taylor Sterling, Waylon Parker III and Justin Ahne. Obituary: James Marion Bird, Sr. went to be with his Lord on , 17th, 2014. He was born 26th 1930, the only child of Jacob Marion and Olive Montez Bird. graduation from the University of Arkansas in 1954, he returned to Fort Smith, accompanied by his wife Barbara and young son. He went to work with his father in the family business, R.M.B. Produce . He then took over the produce business after his fathers retirement. In 1976 he felt the Lord calling him to ministry. He and Barbara then purchased The Bible Book Store. In the early 80s they added a more central location in a rock building and named the store, The Solid Rock Bookstore. In 2001 they moved the store to the current location next to Benefit Bank, at the corner of Massard and Phoenix. Jim and Barbara have ministered and served the community together for the past 38 years. Jim was a charter member of Central Christian Church and served as the first church treasurer. Jim is survived by his wife of 62 years, Barbara Byars Bird; one son, Jim Bird Jr. and his wife Teresa of Greenwood; two daughters, Leslye Bird Loum and her husband Larry of Fort Smith, and Amy Bird Pennington and her husband Mike of Springdale, AR; grandchildren, Jerry Bird, Krissi Bird Beeks, Cara Bird Morland, Justin Loum, Aaron Loum, Lauren Loum, Brandon Pennington and Hayden Pennington, and seven great grandchildren. A Life Celebration will be 20th, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Central Christian Church 400 North Waldron Road under the direction of Edwards . Pallbearers will be his son and grandsons.
