Obituary: Wanda J. Burden, 74, of Newburgh, passed away , 18, 2015. She was born 13, 1941, in Hopkins , KY, to the late Charles Manire and Texie M. (Thompson) Whistle. She worked at Lowes Improvement where she enjoyed working for the past 13 years. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, bird watching, and spending time doing word puzzles. She formerly owned Wandas Stained Glass, in Fairfield, IL, where she taught others the art of glass work. Wanda was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Margrette Franklin. She is survived by her son, Dale, Jr. (Roanna) Toomey; daughters, Dana (Mark) Harper and Dawn (Brett) Phipps; grandchildren, Kyle, William and Jacob; sister, Becky (Dan) Biskup; brother, George Whistle, Jr.; and step-father, George Whistle, Sr. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, , 24, 2015, at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, followed by graveside services at Rose Hill . Obituary: James S. Jim Burden, Sr., 92 years of age died , 18, 2015 at Rolling Hills in New Albany, Indiana. He was born May 30, 1922 in New Albany, Indiana to the late Word and Effie Mae Burden. Jim was a World War II veteran of the United States Army and the former owner and operator of the old Burdens Marathon in Galena. He was a member of First Baptist Church in New Albany and William Zeb Longest American Legion Post #42 in Floyds Knobs, Indiana. Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Adams Burden. Survivors include his children, James Burden, Jr. (Janet), Denise Goodman (Walt), Mike Burden, Leah Early; 6 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren. Dolores was born 10, 1941, to the late Elmo and Madie Buchanan of Drakesboro, Kentucky. Dolores graduated in 1958 from Drakesboro Consolidated School, was Salutatorian of her class, and Muhlenberg Spelling Bee champion. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Wanda Rives of Louisville; and two brothers, Ronnie and E.J. Buchanan of Drakesboro. Dolores married her high school sweetheart and love of her life, George Burden, in 1958. were blessed with three loving, devoted sons, Jeff Burden and Troy (Heather) Burden of Evansville, Indiana and Todd (Lisa) Burden of Troutman, North Carolina; five grandsons; five granddaughters; and two great-grandsons. She is also survived by her brother, Darrel (Eurbie) Buchanan of Camden, Tennessee; and sisters Maryann (Kenneth) McDonald of Greenville, Kentucky and Faye (Weldon) Price of Auburn, Kentucky.
