Obituary: Raymond Ray W. Bates, 81, of Evansville, passed away , 13, 2011, at Parkview . He was born 5, 1929, in Detroit, MI to Raymond R. and Oleafa (Schweickhart) Bates. He graduated from Reitz High School in 1948 and served in the U.S. Army and U.S. Army Reserves. He owned and operated Rays Marathon Service on Fulton Avenue, next to Kent Plastics, for many years. He also worked at Sunbeam Bakery, Vanco Beverage, and retired from Central Beverage in 1992. Ray was a long time member of The American Legion, Twin Towers, and River Bend Association. Ray loved the outdoors. He was an expert marksman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with lifelong friends and family. He was preceded in death by his parents. Ray is survived by his son, Michael Ray (Kim) Bates; two grandchildren, Carissa and Cameron Bates, all of Shreveport, LA; sisters, Delores Decker and Virginia (Joe) Wyatt, all of Evansville; brother, John (Pat) Bates of Fairview, TN; nieces and nephews; long-time companion, Ren Hester, and her family, Brenda Nash, Pam (Tim) Attebury, Ron (Judy) Hester; and Rens grandchildren and great-grandchild. Ray requested no public visitation or service. The family would like to thank Dr. Steed Jackson and the staff at Parkview for the loving care they provided. He graduated from Taylor High School in 1979 and worked at Overhead Door in Westfield for over 20 years. Randy had a great sense of humor, and was an avid Colts and Pacers fan. He enjoyed collecting rocks, deer hunting, and his dog Cherry Berry. Randy loved spending time with his family and friends. Obituary: Millard Ray Bates, 82, Kokomo, passed away on , 10, 2014, at Jefferson Manor. He was born 6, 1932, in Union , Tennessee, to Joseph and Lucy (Sands) Bates. He married Maudie Bates, and she preceded him in death in 2002. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and later worked at American Standard Pottery. He is survived by one daughter, Cynthia (Garvin) Raylene Johnson, New Haven; three grandsons, Rick, Eric, and Scott Turk; two great-grandsons, Brandon and Lincoln Turk; one brother, Joseph Bates, Kokomo; and two sisters, Margaret Bates, Kokomo, and Eva Ward, Tega Cay, South Carolina. Obituary: Marvin William Bates, 73, of Evansville, passed away , 15, 2016, at his home. He was born 17, 1942, in Detroit, MI, to the late Thurman and Minnie Viola (Stinson) Bates. He was in the US Air Force and was a Vietnam War Veteran. He worked for US Airways for 20 years then worked for Rogers Jewelers until retiring in 1999. He belonged to the West Side Sportsman Club and enjoyed camping, fishing, and target shooting. He had a special bond with his youngest daughter, Piper, who cared for him during his hospice care. Marvin was preceded in death by his aunt and uncle who raised him, Ray and Oleafa Bates; and his brother, Charles Ron Bates. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Denise; daughters, Piper (Harold) Blackard, Rachel Dudley both of Evansville, IN, Laura (Randy) Williams of New Albany, IN, and Jennifer (Andy) Wasserzugg of Lexington, KY; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. services will be held 10:00 AM , 18, 2016, at Alexander West Chapel, officiated by Rev. Obituary: Marian Krajewska Bates, 81, of Bloomington died , 25, 2014 in I.U. , Methodist Hospital. She was born 12, 1933 in Camden, NJ to Stephen Krajewski and Sophia Grzeskowiak Krajewski. Marian was a devoted mother, wife and friend. Survivors include a son, Stephen Earl Bates and his wife Ana Cainelli Bates of Vienna, VA; a daughter, Adrienne Brown and her husband Steven of Greenwood; five grandchildren, Avery, Allison and Julian Brown, Sienna Bates and Samantha Paramore; two great grandchildren, Bijou and Remy Paramore; a very dear friend, Sr. Laurette Bellamy, S.P. of Saint Mary-of -the Woods, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Earl O. Bates; a brother, George Krajewski; and three sisters, Dorothy and Theresa Krajewski and Sherrie Lightman. Marian enjoyed a life-long career as a singer of opera and classical vocal music. She was a professor of Voice at Drake University, Indiana University School of Music, and for 35 years at Saint Mary-of-the Woods . graduation from Camden Catholic High School, Marian was accepted into the professional cast of The King &I with Yul Brynner and performed in a year-long tour across the country. Following the tour she entered the Juilliard School of Music in New York on scholarship. She received a double Fulbright Scholarship for further study at the Vienna Academy of Music in Austria. While a student she was engaged to perform leading opera roles in professional houses in Austria and Germany. graduation she was engaged as the leading soprano with the Ulm and the Aachen Opera Companies in Germany. When people are asked to characterize Marian, their response usually describes her as elegant, sophisticated, beautiful and polished and then as a woman of prayer, deep faith and a life based on her faith. To fulfill her desire to share in the mission of love, mercy, and justice of the Sisters of Providence she made her commitment as a Providence Associate in 2009. Memberships include Saint Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Mu Phi Epsilon, National Federation of Music Clubs, Bloomington Chamber Music Society, National Society of Arts and Letters, Friends of Art, and the Friends of Music of the I.U. Jacobs School of Music. In addition Marian along with her husband and children, and more recently Sr. Laurette, were active in welcoming international students into their home and family in conjunction with the Bloomington Worldwide Friendship Organization. Obituary: Ella Louise Kimbrew Bates Evans, aged 90, passed on 13, 2015 in the facility at Robin Run Village. She was the oldest of three children born to Rayfield and Jessie (Gish) Kimbrew and raised by her father and stepmother, Mary Catherine (Johnson) Kimbrew. Born in Indianapolis, Louise attended public schools and graduated from Crispus Attucks High School, class of 1941, 13th in a class of 226. She grew up in Second Christian church (now Light of the World CC ) and continued an active member and leader in churches wherever she lived. She retired from the General Office of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in the Division of land Ministries as Director of Family and Childrens Ministries. Louise continued this work with the National Council of Christian Churches (NCEC) as Director of Family Ministry in Black Churches Project. Her interest in Family education was fostered by a B. S. in Economics Education, M.S. in Child Development and Family Life from Purdue University and a Doctorate in Adult Education from Indiana University. Before joining the staff of the Christian Church, Dr. Louise Bates (Evans) was Assistant Professor of Family Studies at Purdue University, West Lafayette IN and Virginia Teach in Blacksburg VA. She also taught at Wintrop , Rock Hill, SC., IUPUI in Indianapolis and Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis. Louise is survived by sons William Raphael Bates, Louis Allen Bates (grandson whom she raised); brother Raphiel Kimbrew; grandsons Michael Kimbrew and Gordon Winters and granddaughter Carmynn Bates; step daughters Stacy Duke and Eddie Lo Griffin and their families; great grandsons, one great, great grandson and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, M. Josephine Winters ; husbands William Bates and Lorenzo Evans and a sister, Mary Kathryn Sayles.
