Obituary: Dorothy M. Bettenhausen (nee DeValk) 92, of Manteno, passed away , 14, 2017 at St. James Hospital, Chicago Heights. She was born 9, 1925 in Lester, IA to Simon and Ann DeValk. She married Norman Happy Bettenhausen on 17, 1944 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Tinley Park. Dorothy was a Registered Nurse. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, camping and playing cards. Surviving are her husband Happy of 73 years; her sons Larry (Edna), Leroy (Evelyn deceased); daughter-in-law Cindy; her brother Clarence (Joan) DeValk; eight grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by a son Leslie. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Dorothys name to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church would be appreciated. Family will receive friends at Kurtz Memorial Chapel 65 Old Frankfort Way, Frankfort IL 60423 on , 16, 2017 from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Service will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church 177 Luther Lane, Frankfort IL 60423 on , 17, 2017 at 11:00 AM, lying in state from 10-11 AM. Obituary: Virgil Leo Betsinger, 63, of Aurora passed away 2, 2011 at Provena Mercy . He was born 11, 1947 in Austin, Minnesota the son of the late Lester and Bernice Betsinger. Virgil served in the U.S. in the Army from 1968 - 1970 of which eighteen months were spent in Alaska. He married Michele Marie Garwood on 1, 1970 at Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Huntington, Indiana. He was an active member of Holy Angels Church. Virgil worked as a welder at Caterpillar, Inc. from 1972-2002 and most recently was associated with the Phillips 66 Gas Mart on the corner of Route 47 and Galena Blvd. in Sugar Grove. He was an avid blood donor and donated many gallons of blood to Heartland Blood over the years. Virgil is survived by his wife, Michele; his sons, Mark (Angelique), Thomas (Laura), Peter, Matthew (Evelyn); his grandchildren, Nathan, Christopher, Zachary, Jacob, Calla, Alyssia, Hannah, Noel, Adrian and Skylar. Also surviving are his brothers, Bill (Karyl), Rick (Patty), Russ (Joanie) and Robert as well as his sister, Nancy (Emery) Eckert as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Virgil was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Ann Greenwood and Betty Finkelson and his brothers, Lester, James, Ted and Jerry Betsinger. Visitation will take place from 2-8 P.M. on , 4, 2011 at The Healy Chapel, 332 W. Downer Pl. Aurora where a liturgical wake service will be conducted at 7 P.M. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on , 5, 2011 at Holy Angels Church with Msgr. Martin Heinz officiating. A prayer service will be held at 9:45 A.M. on prior to the mass at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will be at Lincoln Memorial Park In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to St. Judes Childrens Research Hospital. |
