Obituary: Ivie O. Barton Ivie O. Barton, age 80, of Rock Falls, died , 26, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family. Ivie was born May 12, 1934 in Stockton, Mo. the son of Gilbert and Florce (Tindle) Barton. He married Dorla Albright on 15, 1953 at St. Louis Catholic Church in Princeton, Ill. He was employed at Northwestern Steel and Wire in Sterling for 37 years retiring in 1996. Ivie was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Rock Falls. He enjoyed fishing, keeping his yard and cars meticulous, smoking his pipe, attending Rock Falls basketball games, watching all kinds of sports on TV and was an avid Cubs and Bears fan. Ivie never missed his grandchildrens sporting events and activities. Survivors include his wife of Rock Falls; two sons, Ivan (Lynn) Barton and Mark Barton both of Rock Falls; one sister, Joann (Bob) Dunham of Rock Falls; four step sisters, Linda, Flora, Roberta and Ruth ; four grandchildren, Megan (Lucas) DeGroot of Rock Falls, Katie Barton of Sterling, Stuart (Jessica Geesey) Barton of Rock Falls and Ashley Barton of Sterling; five great grandchildren, JJ, Jr., Chloe, Rayne and Jack Ivie; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be , 28, 2014 from 5 – 7 PM at the McDonald in Rock Falls. Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will be , 29, 2014 at 10:30 AM at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Rock Falls with Monsignor Thomas Dzielak officiating. Burial will be at Union in Ohio, IL. Obituary: ROCK FALLS – Ivan L. Barton, 61 of Rock Falls died 25, 2016 at his home. He was born on 28, 1954 in Princeton, IL the son of Ivie Odell and Dorla (Albright) Barton and had been a 1972 graduate of Rock Falls Township High School. Ivan was employed at the former National Manufacturing until they closed. He had been the owner of the former 1st Choice Auto Sales and had also sold cars at various dealerships. In his younger years, Ivan played in azxv band that had toured throughout Canada and the U.S. It was while playing in Canada he met his first wife, Greta Harding. He later married Lynette Masini. His hobby was his 55 Chevy. Surviving is his wife, Lynette; his daughters: Megan (Lucas) DeGroot of Rock Falls and Ashley Barton of Sterling; his mother, Dorla Barton of Rock Falls; his brother Mark Barton of Rock Falls and one grandson Jack Ivie DeGroot; his step children: Brigette (Jim) OBrien of Sterling and Bradley Johnson of Sterling; and three step grandchildren: Trinity, Tabytha and Tylor. He was preceded in death by his father Ivie Barton. Visitation will be held on 29, 2016 from 3:30 – 6:15 PM at the McDonald & Crematory, 1002 12th Avenue in Rock Falls. The funeral will follow at 6:30 PM. |
