Obituary: Barbara Jean Baker, 81, of Normal died peacefully at 2:25 a.m. ( 9, 2013) at McLean , Normal. Her funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. at East Lawn , Bloomington, with the Rev. Dr. Larry Colvin officiating. Burial will follow in East Lawn Memorial Gardens, Bloomington. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Her family request that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Centennial Christian Church, 1219 East Grove St., Bloomington, IL 61701, or to a charity of the donors choice. Barbara was born 29, 1932 in Normal, IL. a daughter of William Blaine & Bernadine Woodford Berry. She married the love of her life, Gilbert Dean Baker on 15, 1949, in Bloomington. Gilbert died 21, 1994. Surviving are four children, Vickie Cheek, Snellville, GA; Beckie (Dave) McDonald, Macon; Esther (Jim) Sengpiel, Bloomington; and Dean (Gail) Baker, Aberdeen, MD., seven grandchildren, Brian (Nina) Cheek and Andrew Cheek, Snellville, GA.; Jonathon (Katie Carter) Nord and Jody Nord, Bloomington; Aaron (Lindsey) Wissmiller, Cooksville; Derek (Kristine) Wissmiller, Chicago; Dustin Baker, Aberdeen, MD; step-granddaughter Christina Sengpiel, Bloomington; four great-grandchildren, Rowena, Jacob and Owen Wissmiller, Cooksville; Emmett Wissmiller, Chicago; sister-in-law Martha Edwards, Zephyrhills, FL; nephew Charles (Lori) Berry, LeRoy; niece, Cathy (Montee) Phelps, Normal; and a special aunt, Alice Schramm, El Paso. She was preceded in death by her parents; twin sister, Bettie Jane Berry; two brothers, Donald and Delmar Berry; one half-brother, Raymond Edwards; and a son, Ronald Dean Baker. Barbara attended school in Bloomington and Lexington. She was an excellent homemaker who always put her husband and children first. She worked for the Eisner grocery store for a number of years, and as a seamstress at McLean , retiring in 1998. She was a member of Centennial Christian Church, Bloomington. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to her many caregivers, friends, and staff at McLean , and BroMenn Hospice Services for the excellent care that she received. Barbara was a loving wife, a devoted mother, and a much loved grandmother. She taught her close-knit family the importance of hard work, honesty, and thoughtfulness.
