Obituary: Filer, Idaho Emily M. Baker Emily M. Turnipseed Baker, 99 years young, passed away , 16, 2015 at Cedar Draw Living in Filer. Emily was born 1, 1916 in Filer, Idaho to Sidney and Lida Turnipseed. Emily married Ed Baker on 12, 1936; together they had three children, Kay, Eddie, and Jim. farmed and ranched until Eds death in 1984. She attended CSI at the age of 71 and received her GED. Emily liked to garden and work in the yard, traveling and fishing. She spent her younger years at Magic Hot Springs in Shoshone basin where she worked and fished. Emily moved to Cedar Draw Assisted Living in 2010 where she spent her remaining days. Emily is survived by her daughter, Kay Tipton of Hamilton, Montana; her two sons, Eddie (Shirley) Baker of North Pole, Alaska; and Jim (Barb) Baker of Filer, Idaho. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Baker; two brothers, Dan and Claude Turnipseed. A celebration of Emilys life will be held as a graveside service at 11:00 a.m. on , 21, 2015 at the Twin Falls with Chaplain David Ackerman officiating. Services are under the direction of White Mortuary, Chapel by the Park, Twin Falls. The family would like to express their deepest appreciation and thanks to Cedar Draw Assisted Living staff and Hospice Visions staff for all their loving care and support. Obituary: Our beloved matriarch Dottie has passed away at 100 years old. Dottie was born Elvena Lucille in Broadwater, Nebraska 7, 1915, the daughter of Forest and Ruth Bennett. As a toddler she was nicknamed Dottie Dimples, and as she grew up, decided to keep it--for the rest of her days she was known as Dottie E (and would never tell anyone what the E was for!). When Dottie was eight, she and her family moved to Council Bluffs, Iowa, where she later graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School. While in school, Dottie met a nice young man at church—Wynne H Baker and they began a slow courtship. high school, Dottie, with her younger brother Harry and mother Ruth moved to Boise, ID to be near Ruths sister and brother-in-law. Wynne and Dottie continued their relationship by letters, until Wynne had had enough, and came to Boise to marry Dottie. Their wedding was a beautiful candlelit event held on Christmas Day 1935, followed by 49 years of loving togetherness. the wedding, Wynne and Dottie returned to Council Bluffs to begin their new family adventures. several years and the arrival of their son Wynne H Jr aka Skip in 1940 and their daughter Martha Ruth in 1945, they immigrated back to Boise in 1948 where Wynne became a proud member of the Postal Service. During the following years, Dottie and Wynne settled into their home behind the new Vista Village. Dottie was active in the Whitney United Methodist Church and had many friends. She and several of the neighborhood wives enjoyed many mornings over coffee and chit-chat while the children were at school or playing. Dottie was a 50 year Charter Member of the Mystic Star #81 of Idaho, and volunteered at St Lukes Hospital off and on for many years. She always was willing to help when she was needed. Dottie and Wynne enjoyed round and square dancing, along with playing bridge for many years. also enjoyed traveling once Wynne retired, and savored their annual trips to either Hawaii or a Caribbean cruise (and once the Panama Canal). In recent years after Wynne passed, Dottie came to live with her daughter Marty as this allowed her to remain slightly independent yet still have assistance and companionship. Having her family close seemed to give Dottie extra time in this world—and allowed her to shower love on the twins Tyler and Ethan and little Alivia. Dottie was a very loving mother and grandmother--and was always available when her family needed her. She will be sorely missed by her family and friends. She was pre-deceased by her loving husband Wynne in 1994, and son Skip in 2001. She is survived by her daughter Martha, and grandchildren; Scott, Brian, Darin, Angela and Tiffany (Vixay) as well as great-grandchildren; Craig, Ashley, Nicolas, Tyler, Ethan and Alivia, along with 2nd cousin Katherine Jackson and 3rd cousin Lesa Jackson.
