Obituary: PAULINE STEIDINGER BURDINE (1914-2010) Frances Pauline Steidinger Burdine, 95, of Atlanta, GA died 29, in her sleep. She was the wife of the late Atlanta psychiatrist Winston E. Burdine, MD who died in 1967 (former National Commander of the AMVETS). Pauline was born on a farm in Roosevelt, Oklahoma to Jacob and Anna Braun Steidinger. She rode her pony, Burnett, with her sister Marie on another pony to a one room schoolhouse everyday. Their dad built a barn by the school for everybodys pony. She was graduated from St. Anthonys School of in Oklahoma City OK. She worked as a private duty nurse for many years. She and Winston met at St. Anthonys Catholic Hospital and they married in 1941. She and Winston and their two daughters Judith Burdine Boshell and Linda Burdine Price lived in Blue Ridge, Park, and Atlanta, GA. Pauline was Winstons nurse in Blue Ridge, where they opened the first hospital in Blue Ridge. She made house calls with him and helped him take care of patients. Later when they came to Atlanta, she stayed home with the girls, but helped him at his office and psychiatric hospital (f/k/a Northside Manor, Metropolitan Psychiatric , Psychiatric Institute of Atlanta) on Juniper Street. Pauline was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and a lifetime member of the AMVETS Auxiliary. She was a wonderful mother and friend and loved her church, cooking, playing the piano and organ, having parties and fun. Friendships came easy to her because she had such faith, courage, integrity, wisdom and a wonderful sense of humor. Her later years she loved to ride around in her car, go shopping, and eat at Longhorns. Pauline is survived by her daughter Judith Burdine Boshell (widow of Bill Boshell) of Atlanta and her daughter Linda Burdine Price of Norcross. Also survived by her brother Jimmie Steidinger and wife Barbara of Donna and Dripping Springs, Texas; four grandchildren: Ashley Underwood Busch and husband Tommy Busch, of Alpharetta; Benjamin Underwood, Jr, of Smyrna; Winston Thomas Price and wife Jennifer of Denver; Deanna Price Harrington and husband Mark Harrington of Duluth; six great grandchildren: Hayden and Jack Busch, Adriana and Anniston Boyanton, and Ethan and Cadyn Price. The family gives their thanks and love to Richard Switzer, of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Dr. Phillip Rogers, Dr. Roger Hawes and her dear caregivers (Darlene Mitchell, Shirley Carter, Tina Duke, Regina, Sandra, Kenyetta, Arnetta, and Betty) who made the last years of her life happy years. The celebration of her life will begin at a visitation , 31, 6:00-8:00 pm at H.M. Patterson & Son Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Road, Sandy Springs, GA, 30328, 404-851-9900. Ken Creekmore officiating. Interment will follow in Chapel Park with Greg McKamey, Donnie Hutcheson, Wayne Hutcheson, Jimmy Rogers, Chuck Daly, and Chuck Herrera serving as pallbearers. She was also active in Golden Harvest at Glyndale, was a member of Georgia Power Ambassadors Club, and enjoyed traveling. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James C.
