Obituary: James Marvin (Jim) Brewer, 69 of Statham Georgia passed away on 13, 2015 at St. Marys Hospital in Athens following a period of declining illness. He was the son of the late Reverend Marvin and Pauline Brewer and was married to Carolyn Holland Brewer, who preceded him in death last year. As the son of a United Methodist pastor, Jim grew up in many towns throughout the North Georgia Conference. He was a 1963 graduate of Jefferson High School and he settled in Jackson Georgia where his father pastored the local Methodist Church. He worked as General Manager of Fresh Air Barbecue for over three decades and in 1997, he and his son Chris opened Fresh Air Barbecue of Athens, followed by another location in Bogart two years later when he became a resident of the area. He was a Mason for over 50 years and had been a member of the St. Johns Lodge #45 F & AM in Jackson Georgia. He was also a member and past Governor of the Athens Moose Lodge #767, a supporter of the American Legion #163 of Statham and an ardent fan of the Georgia Bulldogs. Survivors include two sons, Michael Brewer (Lara) of Jackson; Chris Brewer (Kimberley) of Winterville; grandsons Wilson, Ethan and Charlie Brewer; stepsons Brian Bone (Renee) of New Mexico and Mark Bone (Lori) of Athens. He was also survived by his former wife, friend and Bridge partner Ellen Brewer of Jackson; stepbrothers Wayne Miller of Talmo; Larry and Fletcher Miller of Gainesville; stepsister Glenda Pierce of Gainesville; several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held , 18th at the Smith Memory Chapel & , 755 Atlanta Highway SE, Winder Georgia beginning at 4PM with the Reverend Dr. Phil DeMore and Michael Brewer officiating. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home prior to the service beginning at 2:30 PM. Memorial gifts may be made in lieu of flowers if desired to St. Marys Hospital in Athens Georgia. Obituary: Geraldine Paris Brewer, 92, of 221 Stonehill Road, Forsyth, GA, went home to be with the Lord, , 5/19/2014. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Brewer, sisters, Gertrude Swindal and Ethel Riggins, brother Raleigh Paris and niece Debbie Illig. Born in Grand River, KY, Geraldine Paris, 10/14/1921 to Elvin and Malinda Paris. Aunt Gerri was our familys last survivor from the greatest generation. She experienced the great depression as a child. A gifted and industrious student, she graduated from high school with honors in 1941. Her high school accomplishments are: Class Secretary and Treasurer, Glee Club, Drama Club All Star, served on the Student Council and awarded the Best All-Around Girl medal. Her ambition was to be a Cartoonist. Geraldine married Louis Brewer 6/6/1941. Six months later, the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor and the United States entered WWII. Aunt Gerri worked in a General Motors manufacturing plant in Michigan during the war. Rosie The Riveter, a song, film and Norman Rockwell painting, encouraged women to go to work in factories to support the war effort. Rosie The Riveter exemplifies our Aunt. the war, Aunt Gerri continued working for General Motors and retired from their Motor Coach Division in 1981 with 40 years of service. In 1982, retired and widowed, she moved to Macon to be with her sister and brother, Ethel and Raleigh. Nona and Forrest Davis welcomed Aunt Gerri into their home and she was a treasured member of their family unit. She was a member of Ingleside Baptist Church and the Mary Martha School class. An active senior adult, she and Ethel, were inseparable. spent the first 20 years and last 32 years of life together. Their bond was a source of inspiration; a model of mutual love and respect. traveled, bowled and were members of a senior clogging group, Silver Belles, performing at many events in Macon and central Georgia. She is survived by her immediate family Nona and Forrest Davis, great niece Tiffany Smallwood and nieces and nephews in Georgia, Arkansas and Michigan. The family wants to express sincere gratitude for the love and care provided by Margaret John, Roxanne Lambkin and their family at Divine Love. Visitation will be 10:00 A.M. , May 22, 2014 at Macon Memorial Park, 3969 Mercer University Drive, Macon, GA and the Celebration of Life Service will follow at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park with the Rev.
