Obituary: Mr. Joseph Emsley Bettis, age 72, of Villa Rica, passed away , 13, 2015. He was born 7, 1942 in Atlanta the son of the late Mr. Byron Bettis and the late Mrs. Eunice Garner Bettis. In Mr. Bettis younger career he was a messenger for the Atlanta Journal Constitution. He graduated from Georgia Tech with a bachelors degree in engineering. Mr. Bettis retired from the City of Atlanta after thirty years of service. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Fields He is survived by his wife Sheila Tipton Bettis of Villa Rica; daughters, Cynthia Bettis of Atlanta, Johanna Bettis Patterson of Villa Rica, Shelby Vollrath of Douglasville; sister, Loretta McKenzie of Douglasville; three grandchildren, Stephanie Cook, Blake Vollrath and Elizabeth Vollrath; great grandchild, Serah Allgary. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn in Villa Rica, , 16, 2015 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Services will conducted , 17, 2015 at 1:00 PM from the Chapel of Jones-Wynn with Pastor Mike Cronin officiating. Interment will follow in Meadowbrook Memory Gardens in Villa Rica. Obituary: George Franklin Bettis, 81, of Acworth, died , 5, 2014. is at New Salem Baptist Church in Kennesaw with Rev. Frank Hamby officiating beginning at 2pm. Burial will follow at Mountain View in Marietta. Mr. Bettis will lie in state at the church from 1pm to 2pm. His wife Annie Grey Bettis preceded him in death. Mr. Bettis was a longtime member of New Salem Baptist Church where served as a deacon and had served our country honorable in the US Army. He was retired from the US Postal Service and was responsible for starting the Boy Scout Troop 741 where he was Scoutmaster for 25 years. Survivors include his wife Kathryn Bettis, sons \ George and Nancy Bettis, Greg and Cheryle Bettis, daughters \ Gwen and Mike Carswell, Lisa Walker, brother \ Wayne Bettis, 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. There are also 3 stepchildren, 9 step grandchildren, and 24 step great grandchildren that survive. Visiting hours are 3-6pm at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge funeral home in Kennesaw. |

Obituary: Jewell Henrietta Marshall Betsill age 95 of Jonesboro, Georgia passed away , 12, 2010. Mrs. Betsill was a member of Noahs Ark Church and a retired Civil Service employee with the U.S Army having served at Fort McPherson and Fort Gillem. her retirement she worked at the Baptist Inn Retirement and was a Pink Lady at Southern Regional Medical as well as a member of the Shiners Club of Jonesboro. services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. in Noahs Ark Church where she will lie-in-state from 10:00 am until service time. Officiating will be Rev. John Elliott and Rev. Tim Tutton. Interment will follow in the New Hope United Methodist Church . She is survived by her son, Jack Hankins of Jonesboro, GA; two daughters, Joyce and Jimmy Street of Morrow, GA and Margaret and Rev. Tim Tutton of Erie, CO; ten grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; two brothers, George Marshall of Escondido, CA and Owen Marshall of Camden, OH; one sister, Sally and Troy Kelley of Nabb, IN; nieces, nephews and cousins also surviving. Mrs. Betsill is preceded in death by her husband, Sidney Betsill; two sons, Jerry and Jimmy Hankins; two grandsons, Glendel and Mike Hankins; and parents, Gus and Henrietta Ramsey Marshall.
