Obituary: James Edward Bentley III., age 33, of Tucker, Georgia passed away , 31st, 2016 in his home in Tucker. The family will receive visitors on 4th, at H M Patterson and Sons funeral home 4550 Peachtree Road NE, Atlanta, Georgia 30319 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A rosary will be said at 7:30 PM in the chapel. A funeral mass will be held on , 5th at 11:00 AM at Holy Cross Catholic Church at 3773 Chamblee Tucker Road, Atlanta, Georgia 30341. A viewing will be prior to the mass at 10:30 AM Monsignor Richard Lopez will be celebrating the mass. Burial will follow at Arlington Memorial Park at 201 Mt Vernon Hwy, NW, Sandy Springs, GA. Memorials may be made to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cancer in lieu of flowers. James was born on 7, 1982 in Atlanta to James and Mary Jean (Kaufmann) Bentley. He attended Saint Pius X Catholic High School. Upon graduation, James attended Georgia Southern University where he earned his undergraduate degree, then attended Georgia State University earning his Master’s degree in Fine Arts Magna Cum Laude. James was a Digital Media Production Teacher at Brandon Hall School in Atlanta. He enjoyed teaching and working with his students and took great pride in their success. His sense of humor, his compassion, and his dedication to his work was a combination that drew many friends and relatives close to him. James is survived by his father, James E. Bentley II, his mother, Mary Jean Bentley, three siblings, Marie Sabbaresse and husband Brannon, Rachel Linwood and husband Victor, Jason Bentley and wife Kristi, his grandmother, Betty Bentley of Atlanta, three nephews, Joshua Sabberesse, Luke Sabbarese, and Aidan Linwood. |

Obituary: James Edward Bentley Sr., age 86, of Birmingham, Alabama, passed away , 5th, 2014 in his home in Atlanta, Georgia surrounded by his family. The family will receive visitors at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church lower level, 2855 Briarcliff Rd, NE on evening from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A rosary will be said at 7:30 PM. Viewing will also be held on morning in the Church from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM with a funeral mass starting at 11:00 AM Monsignor Edward Dillon will be officiating. Deacon Bob Hauert will assist. Burial will follow at Arlington Memorial Park at 201 Mt Vernon Hwy, NW, Sandy Springs, GA. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. James was born on 13, 1928 in Sayre, Alabama to Amos and Bessie (Holloway) Bentley. He attended high school at Phillips High School in Birmingham then enlisted into the United States Navy. On 8th, 1949 he married Betty Eleanor Hilmer in Birmingham and was the father of seven children. James was a successful Atlanta business man and owned several businesses related to the linen and uniform rental, laundry, and dry cleaning industry. He enjoyed coaching his children and grandchildren on their baseball teams and he loved playing poker with his friends. All of his children attended St. Pius X Catholic High School. He was an active member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and was an active member of the Antarctic Explorers Society. He attended many reunions of his shipmates on the USS Pine Island. He sailed around the world two and a half times during his naval career and participated in the Antarctic Expedition with Admiral Richard E. Byrd in Operation Highjump 1948-49. He retired from his businesses in 1982 and enjoyed spending time with his wife and family. James is survived by his wife, Betty, and his six children, Deborah, Marlyn, James II, Phillip, Patrick, and Jack; sixteen grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Barbara, and his parents, Amos and Bessie Bentley (Holloway) and five brothers, Jack, Eugene, Donald, Ted, and Charles (Sonny). |

Obituary: Gail "Renee" Bentley lost her battle with cancer today, 2, 2014. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Jessica Renee Bentley Brown, brother, William Gary Ferguson, and father, William Daniel Ferguson. Born May 10, 1959, Gail "Renee" Ferguson lived in the Snellville area most of her life till she graduated high school, South Gwinnett (1974 -76) and Parkview High, class of 1977. In 1978 Renee meet and married David Lee Bentley from Loganville, they moved to the Monroe area in 1989, together they had two beautiful daughters, Jessica Renee Bentley Brown, born 1980 and passed away 2012 and Rachel Lea Bentley, born, 1986. Jessica and Rachel blessed Renee and David with four beautiful grandkids: Coleman Lee Brown, Bailey Alexis Tullis, Preston Elijah Tullis and Pailyn Annalise Posey. Renee and David were married for 36 years. Renee leaves behind husband, David Bentley, Monroe, GA; mother, Ruth Ferguson, Monroe, GA; daughter, Rachel Bentley and husband, Darren Posey, Lawrenceville, GA; brother, Danny Ferguson and wife, Brenda, Hohenwald, TN; sisters, Patsy Davis, Peachtree City, GA, Anglia Ferguson, Newnan, GA, and Regina Pulliam and husband, Steven, Lineville, AL; special nieces, and nephews and tons of friendships. Mrs. Bentley born May 23, 1925 in Hahira, GA. to the late Elisha Burnett Jones and the late Eva Eliza McLeod, she had been a resident of Brunswick for fifty three years. Mrs. Bentley was a graduate of Hahira High School in Hahira, GA., a graduate of Abraham Baldwin Agriculture in Tifton Ga. serving as a member of the ABAC Alumni Association. She was also a graduate of the University of Georgia in Athens, GA. Mrs. Bentley retired from teaching from the McIntosh Board of Education. She was a member and past president of the Georgia Retired Educators Association (GREA), a member of the Georgia 4-H Volunteer Leader Association, and a member of the Georgia Master 4-H Club. She was also a member of the Church of Christ Carteret Road. In addition to Mrs. Bentleys parents she is preceded in death by her husband Huby Spencer Bentley. Survivors include her three daughters Michelle B. Stieve and husband Lee of Nahunta, GA. B. Hagin and husband Bill of Buena Vista, GA. and Candace A. Bentley-Connor and husband Tim of Brunswick, GA., five grandsons Jason Reeves of Brunswick, GA. Patrick and Max Stieve both of Nahunta, GA. John Hagin and wife Mari-Beth of Thomaston, GA, and William Hagin and wife Amber of Woodbine, GA. two granddaughters Elizabeth Hagin of Athens, GA. and Sara Zimmerman and husband Robbie of Brunswick, GA. four great-grandchildren Connor, Gracie Rae, Jacob, and Emma Leigh Hagin all of Thomaston, GA. two brothers E.B.
