Obituary: Doina Evdochia Artinian , 82, of Jensen Beach, Florida passed away 22, 2015. She was born in Romania and moved to Queens, New York in the early 1970's. Doina settled on the Treasure Coast in 1997. She worked in Clerical in Romania. In the United States, she was a great caretaker to her entire family. Doina enjoyed cooking, gardening, fishing, and travelling throughout the United States and Europe. She was preceded in death by her brother, Dumitru Bodnar. Survivors include her husband Sirun Artinian; and several nieces and nephews. A gathering of friends and family took place from 2-4pm with a funeral service at 2:30 pm on 29, 2015 at Aycock , Jensen Beach, Florida. Eulogy read by Doina Nedelcu, Mrs Artinian's older niece: We are here to celebrate the life of Doina Artinian, Arts beloved wife, my fathers Sister, my mothers beloved sister in law and our beloved Aunt and Godmother. She had a beautiful life with Art, our uncle and Godfather with whom she lived the most wonderful love story. While teenagers, and living in the same city, Doina and Art knew each other by sight. Years later they met at a party and started dating: he was 29 years old and she was 25. Almost right away they started to make plans of marriage but there was a problem: Arts family was trying to leave Romania due to hardship under the Communist regime and, after 8 years of struggle with the Government, they got the permission to leave because they were of Armenian descent. Understanding very well that Art would not have been granted permission to leave the country if they married, she kept their plans a secret. Nobody besides the two of them knew about this, not even her close family, which pained her greatly as she was worrying a lot of what was to happen to her brothers career under the Communist regime, if she were to leave the country. Finally, after reaching US in 1971 and with great effort, Art and Doina succeeded to obtain a visitors visa for her to come to New York City where they got married in 1972 and started to enjoy their life in freedom, as a couple. Every year she returned to Romania to be with her mother, brother and the family, beloved and loving, always helpful, always supportive, always humorous and joyful. While her stay in Romania was a celebration for the extended family and friends, for me, my sister and my brothers as kids, this was the most important event of the Year. Art and Doina helped me and my husband immigrate to Canada, adopting us like their own kids and always being there to support us through the hardships of the new beginnings. Almost every year they visited us in Canada and we came every year to celebrate Christmas and New Year at first in New York and then in Florida. We have always been in touch talking at least once or twice every week. started enjoying the life in the Sunshine State in 1997 when they moved to Fairwinds Cove, after Art retired. In 2008 Doina underwent an unsuccessful bypass surgery but she was a very strong person with a great will to live the way she wanted: gardening, cooking, traveling and watching over her family in US, Canada and Romania. Beautiful and high spirited, she was a very friendly person and a straight talker, with a very strong character not admitting anybody to go over line. Respectful and compassionate, she was respected by everybody who knew her. She had a very lovely life with Art: they lived happily all their 55 years together. Now the beautiful person who was Arts love and soul and our guardian angel here on Earth has left us, but we feel blessed and thankful for having had her in our lives. Farewell, our beloved: we will miss you forever. Eulogy read by Sirun, Mrs Artinian's husband Doina was my heart, my soul and my life. Ever since we met and until now we were always together in any event of sorrow or joy. Doina had a wonderful heart helping anybody in need. She always jumped in to protect or help me in difficult occasions. Today and since she passed away I have a large void in my heart: I feel lost without her. My heart is broken and my soul is empty: I will miss you forever, my love. |
