Obituary: Catherine Arthur, 90, of Daytona Beach, FL passed away Nov. 1, 2015. She was born in Scranton, PA on 5, 1925 and graduated from Sussex, NJ High School. Catherine married her beloved late husband Donald Arthur, Sr. on 16, 1942. Kay was retired but worked part time for 28 years at the ALIKI condominium where she also resided. She was a member of the "Lunch Bunch" and a published author of children's books..."Jelly Bean" was published in 2005.Kay had a passion for reading, crossword puzzles, shopping and spending time with her family and friends whom she dearly loved. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Steve and George; three sisters, Anna, Margaret, Mary and Helen. Catherine is survived by Bonnie Hendricks of Old Saybrook, CT; Donald Arthur, Jr and wife Patricia C. Arthur of Fair Lawn, NJ; grandchildren: Arlene Hendricks; Eric Hendricks and wife Sharon; Patricia Port Vliet and husband Eric; Alexander Arthur and wife Susan; great grandchildren: Danielle, Cody, Cameron, Jake, Grace, Dylan, Alyssa and Autumn. Obituary: Alan Thomas Arthur, a career Firefighter/EMT with the Seminole Fire Department with a generous community spirit passed away 3rd, 2015 with his family by his side. Alan was 56. Alan was born in Port Jefferson, NY on 27th, 1958 and lived in Suffolk , Long Island until he joined the United States Navy at the age of 20. He served his country as an Interior Communications Technician and Plank Owner on the USS Cimarron (AO-177) until his honorable discharge in 1985. Alan relocated to Florida shortly after leaving the Navy, and pursued his dream of becoming a Firefighter. He devoted himself to Seminole as a public servant spending over 20 years with the Seminole Fire Department – Station 34. Not satisfied with serving only the public, Alan took on the additional responsibilities as the Trustee at Large of the Firefighters Union Local 3254 to do whatever he could to improve the lives of his SCFD brothers and sisters. Alan retired from the Fire Department in of 2013. In addition to firefighting, Alan loved spending time in the Key West, Florida where he went from “Firefighter Al” to “Vacation Al.” Alan also had a great love for his dogs Patch and Cinder. He was a “MacGyver” when it came to his many projects and his thoughts of “nothing should go to waste”. Alan is survived by his best friend/wife Mary Sweat, his step-sons Joshua and Chance Sweat, brother Kevin, niece Kristi, and nephews Ryan and Sean. Alan is preceded in death by his father Frederic, mother Aileen, and brother Brian. Alan’s family and friends welcome everyone to join them for a Visitation on , 8, 2015 from 6pm to 8pm. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Northland Church in Longwood, FL on , 9, 2015 at 10am. |
