Obituary: Doris Jean Adair died , 6, 2017. Doris was born to Stanley Cartner Porteous of Ormond, Ontario and to Jean Kerr Reid Porteous of West Carron, Scotland on 6, 1925 in Canton, NY, where she lived until after high school graduation. At 19 years old, Doris left the St. Lawrence Seaway community arriving at Syracuse, NY where 24 year old World War II Army Air Corp Pilot, James Reid Adair was smitten with her. married on May 6, 1944, by Reverend E. Miles, First Presbyterian Church of Syracuse, NY. the war they moved to Washington, D.C. for employment with the U.S. Department of Treasury as a Special Agent for the Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms Division. Over the years, they had 3 children; Allan, Carolyn, and Joe and they were transferred to Miami, Pensacola, Jacksonville, West Palm Beach and on 3, 1970 to Tampa where they retired. Doris volunteered in the school clinic, student data entry, costume designer for school plays, PTSA committee member, homeroom mother, and Girl Scout leader. Friend and neighbor, Joyce Becker, founded a group Doris joined making Braille Bibles for third world countries. a number of years bowling with teammates Joyce Johnson, Karen Robey, and Joanna Schwartz, they were awarded the Crown Jewels 2002-2003 First Place Team “Enterprise” at the Pin Chasers. She enjoyed attending the library book club and Erwin er and Technical School Flower Arranging courses. Doris was predeceased by her husband, James R. Adair, Tampa, FL; brother, Arnold S. Porteous, Star Lake, NY; brother , Walter A. Porteous, Springfield, VA; sister, Eleanor I. Quatro, Cortland, NY; brother-in-law, Albert J. Quatro, Cortland, NY; sister-in-law, Evelyn V. Rylant, Fernandina Beach, FL; brother-in-law, James Rylant, Fernandina Beach, FL; and nephew James Rylant, Jr., Jacksonville, FL. Doris is survived by her son, Allan J. Adair and wife Sandra, Rochester, MN; daughter, Carolyn J. Emery and husband Forrest, Riverview, FL; son, Joseph S. Adair and wife Geneva, Walker, LA; sister-in-law, Dr. Joyce Dain-Porteous, Clearwater, FL; nephews, David Porteous and wife Gay, Albion, NY, Michael Rylant and wife Kathy of The Villages, FL ,and Stanley Porteous, Long Beach, CA.; nieces, Kathy R Conger and husband Bill of Fernandina Beach, FL, Cyndy A. Obituary: David “Coach” Adair, born on 23, 1960 in York, Alabama, was called home by our Lord unexpectedly on 23, 2015. As the son of Willard and Louis Adair, he was raised most of his life in Key West, Florida. a long wait at the altar, he married Kimberly Jaycocks Adair on 31, 1988 with a wide grin on his face. gaining one beloved daughter, little did he know that they would have two more to add to their happiness. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, aunt Dude, sister Ellen, and nephew David Adair. He is also survived by his devoted and loving wife Kimberly, three daughters, Krystal, Lauren and Jaclyn, Father and Mother In-law Charles and Gloria Pellicier grandchildren, Monica, Isaiah, Noah, Faith, and Tristan; and siblings Skip, Nick, and Jane, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and an extended family he loved and cherished. David passed on while doing what he loved most, playing basketball! David became known as a State Championship winning Coach through his career at Greenville High School, Key West High School, Lake Highland Preparatory School, New Smyrna Beach High School, and most recently taught English at Seminole High School. When he wasn’t in the classroom teaching, you could find him on the court playing, mentoring, and encouraging anyone who needed a vote of confidence. He always believed in anyone with a good heart. David was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He lived his life in a way that without fail made others around him reach the most of their potential. His smile was infectious and brought joy to those around him, especially through his elaborate and entertaining stories. David was a happy, funny, encouraging, and an all around genuinely loving person; we hope everyone can smile through the legacy he has left behind. Everyone that was touched and impacted by the life of David is welcomed to the services.
