Obituary: ALLGOOD, Robert Cecil Jr., Lt. Col., USAF Ret., 63, of Montgomery, AL, passed away on , 6, 2016. He was a 1976 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point and was commissioned into the USAF. He received his Masters Degree from the Naval Postgraduate School in 1983. He retired from the USAF in 2004 and continued working with the USAF as a contractor until 2006. He then worked for the State of Alabama from 2006 until 2014. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Cecil Allgood and Evelyn Lucille Harrison Allgood. He is survived by his wife Shirley Jean Barth Allgood, Montgomery, AL; two sons, Timothy Jason Allgood, Montgomery, AL; Michael David Allgood (Sydney), Colorado Springs, CO; daughter, Rebecca Ann Allgood Caron (Lt. Owen), Biloxi, MS; granddaughter, Sophia Faith Allgood; sisters, Peggy Dianne Wasiljov (Edward), Grove City, OH; Rhonda Sue Montagna (Samuel) King George, VA; a host of nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Alabama Heritage at 11:00 a.m. on , 10, 2016 with Rev. Daniel Atkins and Rev. Dean Finch officiating. Obituary: The Graveside Service for Lieutenant Colonel William Dyral Allfrey, 80, of Athens will be at 2 p.m. Athens City with Father Charlie Alookoran officiating. Visitation will be from 12 \ 1:45 p.m. at McConnell . He was born 17, 1933 in Athens, AL to Alton Leon Allfrey and Mildred Coggins Allfrey. Preceded in death by his parents; wife of 50 years Marion Gonnella Allfrey, one son Darryl Allen Allfrey; one daughter Dawn Corene Allfrey; and sister Shirley Allfrey Smith. He is survived by his brothers Dwaine Allfrey and wife Barbara; George Marshall Allfrey; sister Allfrey Booth and husband Archie; special niece Paige Brookshier Stermer and best friend Pete Stromquist, nieces and nephews, and great nieces and great nephews. Pallbearers will be nephews Tom Smith, Stan Smith, Cass Smith, Todd Booth, Dane Allfrey, Richard Booth, and Martin Evans. Decorations, award as follows: Distinguished Flying Cross w2 Oak Leaf Clusters (3 AWARDS), Meritorious Service Medal, AF Commendation Medal with 1 Oak Leaf, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal with 14 Oak Leaf Cluster (Combat Awards), Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Vietnam), Combat Readiness Medal, AF Longevity Service Award. Bills Military Life / Assignment Record Commissioned as 2nd Lieutenant in 1955, while stationed at Pope Field, N.C., where he was in navigator on troop transport planes, he met Marion Gonnella from Westchester, N.Y. Following their marriage in New York in 1955, Allfrey was sent to Kadena Air Base on Okinawa. He witnessed detonation of numerous atomic bombs he became ill from radiation exposure. Returning from the South Pacific as a navigator selected for pilot school at Bartow, Fla. ward, he spent a year at Luke Air Base, learning to fly F-100 Super Sabre jets. Next he transitioned to Myrtle Beach and was assigned to the 352th Tac Fighter Squadron where most of our targets were not far from Havana Harbor, Kennedy, and soviet missiles in Cuba. Aviano Airbase, Italy, for the Cold War, and alert duty as F-100 flight Commander, with aircraft armed with 1.1 megaton bombs, ready for take \off with special target assignments for each aircraft. In 1965, Allfrey is selected for the exchange pilot program and spent two years with the Royal Air Force and lived in England for two years. In 1967, he was assigned to the 416th Tactical Fighters stationed in Phu Cat, near the coast in North Central South Vietnam. During this Combat assignment he distinguishes himself by heroism or extraordinary achievement while participating in an aerial flight, operations. The 1968 TET offensive and over 300 combat missions, returning from Vietnam in time for Christmas. 1970-01973 returned to Wethersfield Air Base, just north of London, where he was assigned to nuclear duty he also was on alert in Turkey. In 1973, he was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel and assigned to the Pentagon as deputy chief of Fighter Branch charged with procurement. We bought all the modern-day fighters, A-10, F15, and F-16 now in use. 1976- 1979 was assigned to the Southern Europe, NATO Headquarters in the Air Force Southern Region Command . In late 1979, now reassigned to Maxwell Field where it all started 26 years earlier. Following retirement in 1980, Marion and I made 709 Norton Drive, Athens, AL, our permanent address. 1980-1995 worked for Teledyne Brown Engineering, assisting in the development of the Reagan Star Wars programs. 1995-2000 worked at Mevatec in Huntsville, reviewing and writing procurement contracts and special programs documentation. |

Obituary: Robert Hudson Allford, Jr., known as Bob, was born on 14, 1925 to the late Robert Hudson Allford, Sr and Edith Beale. He was the oldest of two children born to that union. Bob died peacefully at home on 22, 2015 with the hope of the resurrection in his heart. He was 90 years old. He was married to Joan Allford for 52 years. cared for four children throughout this marriage. On 22, 1952 he dedicated his life to Jehovah through water baptism. He was an avid learner and teacher so being a preacher of "the good news" of God's kingdom appealed to him. He was a fine example of "seeking first the kingdom". (Matthew 6:33) He followed this principle throughout his life. Not only within his family but with all those in whom he came in contact. Because of his love for this work he and his wife decided to participate in missionary work in South America. The area they were assigned to preach in was indeed South America...as in Decatur, AL (the south of America). Eventually, Bob was assigned to a congregation in Athens, AL. This was his home for more than 30 years. During this time, he also started several cleaning businesses. These businesses allowed him to work throughout the Tennessee Valley with brothers of all ages and develop relationships that lasted a lifetime. He enjoyed traveling, flying, sunsets, and watching the night sky. He also loved astronomy, space exploration, and technology. During his quiet moments, he enjoyed early morning readings and jazz music. He also loved to dance, especially with his wife. He once said, 'the only problem with growing old is the fact that the body is not able to do what the mind is now capable of doing. I seek solace in the promise that Jehovah made -- to give us eternal life on earth with a perfect mind and body able to serve Him forever.' Bob was preceded in death by his father, Robert Allford, Sr., his mother Edith Beale, his brother, William Allford, and his son Robert Allford III. Left to cherish his memory are the following: His wife, Joan Allford. His children Joyce Allford LeMonier (Culpepper) of Birmingham, AL; Edith Allford Burgess of Atlanta, GA; Deborah Land (John) of Dallas, TX; Laura Donegan (Rodrick) of Harvest, AL; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, other relatives, and dear friends. |

Obituary: Annie Grace Alley, a resident of Newton, the Bay Springs Community, died , 9, 2011, at Flowers Hospital. She was 80. services will be 10:00 a.m. , 12, 2011, at Bay Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Wyatt and Rev. Johnny Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Byrd on West Main directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. . Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Camp Victory, 363 Victory Circle, Samson, AL 36477. Ms. Alley was born 10, 1930, in Houston and graduated from Wicksburg High School in 1948. She was employed with the Houston Department and Farm Bureau Insurance and later moved to Lincoln, Nebraska where she was employed with Back to the Bible Broadcasting for 30 years. She returned to Dothan, to the farm she was raised on in 1995, where she lived the remainder of her life. Ms. Alley served on the Board of Directors for Camp Victory and was a member of Bay Springs Baptist Church where she taught School, served as Church Treasurer, sang in the choir and worked with the youth of the church. She lived a Godly life as a Christian and was an example by her actions. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carlton and Mattie Lou Boswell Alley, two brothers, Jimmy Alley and Bill Alley, one niece, two great nieces and one great nephew. Survivors include four sisters, Jeanette Parker, Walstonburg, NC, Carolyn Brown (Jackie), Clayhatchee, Mary Cook (Joe), Keithville, LA, Sara Smith (Freddie), Albany, GA; a brother, Ray Alley (Madge), Newton; five nephews; nine nieces; eighteen great nieces and nephews and other extended family members. Serving as pallbearers will be Carl Parker, Tommy Alley, Scott Alley, Tim Brown, Joey Cook and Jimmy Skipper. |
