Obituary: Wanda Faye Ames age 80 passed away on 1, 2016 after a courageous six year struggle with Alzheimers. Disease. She died at 6:35 am in the care of the Collier Hospice in Wheat Ridge, CO with her family close by. Born in Pemberton, WV on May 7, 1936 to Kermet Burl Buckland and Mollie Katherine Lloyd she was one of eight children in the Buckland family. She was married to Harold Alonzo Scarbro in Beckley, WV in 1953. had three children: David Harold Scarbro, Eric Christopher Scarbro, and Shawn Elaine Scarbro. Faye and Harold were divorced and she married her husband of 30 years, Richard (Dick) Stanley Ames on 12, 1981. She became a caring step-mother to his son Richard (Rich) Stanley Ames. Faye Ames was a successful Real Estate Broker for many years in Columbia, South Carolina. retirement Faye and Dick moved to Colorado to be closer to their family. enjoyed traveling together, spending time with their grandchildren, and continuing to work as managers and caretakers at assisted living facilities in the Denver area. In their final years, they resided at Golden Pond in Golden, CO. The family would like to thank and acknowledge the staff of Golden Pond for their compassionate care of both Faye and Dick. Faye was a loving mother, grandmother, and wife. She was preceded in death by her sweetheart, Dick, who she nursed through cancer as she fought her own battle with Alzheimers. She is survived by her four children and five grandchildren. She is also survived by four of her eight siblings. services will be held at the Olinger Woods Chapel on 1100 Washington Avenue in Golden, CO on 5, 2016 at 12:30 pm. Immediately following the services Wanda Faye Ames will be laid to rest alongside her husband at the Fort Logan National in Denver, CO. The family is asking that in lieu of flowers friends and family can make a donation in tribute to Faye Ames to the Alzheimer's Association. under the direction of Olinger Woods Chapel, Golden, CO. |
