Obituary: Jeanne Carol Arbuckle, 73, a longtime resident of Mesa, Arizona, passed away on 30, 2015, in Phoenix. She was born on 15, 1942, the eldest of 4 children to Col. John Charles and Carol Marie (Strauss) Nickerson in Columbia, South Carolina. Raised in a military family, she had lived in various points in the country, graduating from Balboa High School in Panama City, FL. She attended Missouri State University, earning her bachelors degree in 1963. She became a teacher, and then a substitute teacher. She married Arthur Arbuckle (whom she later divorced) in 1971. In the 1980s, she was a secretary, and wrote Streets of Mesa articles for the Mesa Tribune. She enjoyed writing, arts and crafts, painting with watercolor, and making yarn ojos. A self-described liberal member of the Republican National Party, she was also a member of the Mesa Presbyterian Church, serving as a deacon at one point. Jeanne is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Arbuckle of Oakland, CA; brothers Dr. John C Charlie Nickerson III and his fiancée Mary Joe Walker of Colorado Springs, CO, David A Nickerson of Denver, CO, Henry R Nickerson and his wife Monique of Seattle, WA; niece Dr. Kitren C Nickerson of Denver, CO; nephew Erik C Nickerson of Boulder, CO; and her beloved cat, Spike. A Graveside service will be held on , 5, 2016 at 10 am at Mariposa Gardens Memorial Park. Mariposa Gardens Memorial Park and is entrusted with arrangements.
