Obituary: Nydda Johns Allen left this earthly existence on 1, 2015 after a long battle with Alzheimers. She was born 4, 1930 in Virden, New Mexico to James William and Sabra Alice Johns. She was raised in Virden and then Chandler, Arizona and has lived in the Phoenix/Mesa area all her life. She met Alec Allen and they were married in the Mesa, Arizona temple on 4, 1949. She was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints all her life and served in many leadership positions. Nydda is survived by her husband of 65 years, Alec, and her children Karen (Pete), Mark (Beth), Lynnette (Paul), Lynda, Mike (Karrie), Grant (Teresa), and Renae (Kent). She is also survived by her brothers, Louis (Ella Mae) and Rex (Carolyn). One son (Glen) proceeded her in death, as well as her parents and siblings, Robert, Calvin, Twila, and Karen. Nydda is also survived by 29 grand children and 48 great grand children. services will be Wed., 5, 2015 at 11 am at the LDS Solomon Ward building located on Broadway and Solomon. The family will receive friends at a viewing from 6-8 pm at Meldrum Mortuary, 52 N. MacDonald, Mesa, AZ as well as 9:30-10:30 am at the church. The family would like to thank Hospice of the Valley, for their loving care, especially Barbara, Melinda and Jill. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the LDS Church (Missionary Fund or Humanitarian Fund) or to the Hospice of the Valley. |

Obituary: Allen, Nephi Simeon 96, of Peoria, Arizona passed away on 12, 2015. Nephi Simeon Allen--Family Man, Church Leader, Entrepreneur, Friend. It is with emotion mixed with sadness, gratitude, amazement and love that we announce the passing of Nephi Simeon Allen on 12th, 2015. He entered this life in Salt Lake City, Utah on 25th, 1918, one of the seven children of Elizabeth Skidmore Hardy and Heber Simeon Allen. That was the beginning of a life seasoned with virtue and steadfastness. In of 1938, Nephi accepted the call to serve as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Swiss-Austrian mission. He served there until World War II became imminent at which time he was one of the last missionaries to leave that country through Italy as the War broke out. He graduated with a bachelors degree from the University of Utah and during that time, he met Marjorie Nell Price from Phoenix, Arizona. were married on May 1st, 1941 in the Mesa, Arizona Temple of the Church. While visiting Nephis father in Raymond, Alberta, Canada, Nephi received a draft notice to report in Salt Lake City. He joined the Army Air-force and was sent to South Dakota for training and then went to England as an assistant to a commanding officer during the War. his discharge from the Service, his many talents began to blossom. He became a contractor and together with his Brother-in-law, Reed Eugene Price formed Allen-Price Construction specializing in the building of custom homes and commercial buildings in Metro Phoenix. Their partnership also gave birth to a chain of Miniature Golf courses in the Phoenix area and California. Nephi is the Father of five children, James Russell Allen (Shirlyn Hoyt), Steven Wallace Allen (Linda Tanner), Marilyn Clare Bullock (Kent Bullock), David Price Allen (Rebecca Riggs), and Lawrence Joseph Allen (Nancy Scarlett). Nephi and Marjorie have twenty-seven Grandchildren, seventy-three Great-Grandchildren and one Great-Great-Grandchild. As a Church leader, he has served in many capacities including as a Ward Mission Leader, a Ward Bishop in North Phoenix and a Counselor in the North Phoenix Stake Presidency. Later, as a couple, they served as Missionaries in New Zealand and Australia. More recently, they were given the calling as President and Matron of the Mesa, Arizona Temple where they served for three years. Now he has gone from us to a better place where he will have new and important Eternal challenges and joys given him with those of his loved ones who have preceded him.
