Obituary: Otto Allison Jr., born Aug. 10, 1923 in Helena, Mt, passed away at Clare Bridge in Puyallup on Dec. 23, 2011. His sharp wit, sense of humor, and great stories will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Raised in Spokane, Otto joined the Navy during WWII and was stationed at NAS Patuxent River, MD. Returning to Spokane with his wife Sara (Peggy) Bunch, Otto attended Gonzaga Law School and joined the Tank , 161st Infantry Regiment of the Washington National Guard. Upon graduation, Otto and Peggy moved to Washington DC where Otto worked for the Department of the Navy for three years. Again returning to Spokane, Otto started in private practice, worked for the AGs office in Eastern Washington, and eventually became a partner with Frederickson, Maxey, Bell, and Allison. He continued as a member of the National Guard in the Headquarters of the 3rd Brigade (later the 81st Brigade at Camp Murray). Upon retiring in 1974, Otto and his second wife, Juanita (Jan) Hubert moved to Sedro Woolly and then to Anacortes. In his new home, he continued to serve with the National Guard, worked as an Administrative Judge for the State of Washington, was Judge ProTem/Court commissioner for Skagit and became the Municipal Judge for Concrete, WA. Later Otto also served as Civil Service Commissioner for the City of Anacortes. Otto retired from the National Guard in 1983 as a CSGM E9. Otto enjoyed being a member of the Anacortes Sunrise Kiwanis and put a lot of energy into raising funds for community projects and scholarships. Every year he would boast of his new personal record selling Christmas trees. He was close to his family and for a long time organized the annual family reunion. He loved trees, planted many, and seldom missed his daily walk in Washington Park where he tossed apples to the deer and volunteered to clean up the trash. Otto was preceded in death by his first wife Peggy, his second wife Jan, and his son Richard (Dick). He is survived by his son Otto Allison (Michelle) of Tacoma, his sister Geraldine Matson of Spokane, his grandson Aaron Allison of Spokane, his granddaughter Fawn Allison of Issaquah, and five great grandchildren. Ottos willingness to help others and to support his community endeared him to many. In his memory, Otto would request you plant a tree, help an animal, or donate to a scholarship fund. He will be laid to rest at Tahoma National in Covington. are being handled by Powers of Puyallup. |
