Florene was born to Charles and Vada Thornhill Frazier on 5, 1932 in Lakota, VA and the widow of Roadcap Atkins, Jr. She retired from Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance. Mrs. Atkins enjoyed shopping, and the outdoors with flowers and gardening. Surviving Mrs. Atkins is her son Michael Atkins of Amissville, VA and a special friend Anna Waugh. She also leaves a number of nieces and nephews. Obituary: Elizabeth Anderson Atkins, 90, of Cross Keys, passed away on , 15, 2015 at Sunnyside Retirement Community. She was born in Bridgewater, Va., on 25, 1925 and was the daughter of the late r and Annie Matheny Anderson. Elizabeth graduated from Bridgewater High School and Dunsmore Business in Staunton. Elizabeth and her husband were the founding owners and operators of Atkins Litter Service, Inc. She was a lifetime member of Eastern Star, long time member of First Presbyterian Church where she was involved with Meals on Wheels, volunteered at the hospitality desk, and was Secretary and member of Mrs. Sally Blossers school class. She touched many people with her card ministry and later telephone ministry. On 14, 1950 she married Charles R. Bob Atkins who survives. In addition, surviving family includes daughters, Sharon Lam and husband, Bill; Mary Morris and husband, Mike; Nancy Miller and husband, Craig; all of Rockingham, VA. Grandchildren include Geoff Lam and wife, Kathy, of Tappahannock, VA; Marc Lam and wife, Elizabeth; Brandon Morris and wife, Misty; Kyle Morris and wife, Lauren; all of Rockingham, VA; Kelsey Miller of Fort Benton, MT, and Chase Miller of Manhattan, KS; ten great-grandchildren; and a niece, Martha Anderson Bocock of Rockingham, VA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Boyd and Harry Anderson and a sister, Ethel Anderson. The Rev. Paul OGorek will conduct Elizabeths Celebration of Life, 10:00 a.m., , 18, 2015 at Sunnysides Meredith Chapel. The family will enjoy meeting friends following the service. A private burial at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens will be held earlier in the day. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Harrisonburg-Rockingham SPCA, P. O. Box 413, Harrisonburg, VA 22803. The family would like to extend many thanks to the staff at Sunnyside Retirement Community especially the staff on 3rd floor health care. Lindsey in Harrisonburg is handling arrangements. She was a loving daughter, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She looked forward to family holidays and gatherings. She enjoyed traveling, eating out, bingo, and playing with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louise G. McIntosh and Newman C. Her three grandchildren Charles Lee Atkins III (Kate) of Charleston, South Carolina, Stephanie Niner (Richard) of Springfield, Virginia, and Christopher Michael Crabbe (Joanna) of Richmond, Virginia and her five great grandchildren Justine, Richard, Julia, Tyler, and Garrett.
