Obituary: Evelyn Rae Askew, 97, passed away on , 10, 2016. She was a native of Hampton and a resident of Poquoson. She was a member of Hampton Baptist Church. Evelyn enjoyed her work volunteering for the hospital. She was a member of the James Hale Memorial Ex-POW and a life member of the Military Officers Association of America. Evelyn was preceded in rest by her husband of 61 years, George Askew; brothers, Charles Dutton and Robert Dutton; sister, Irene Neismith; and sons, Richard Askew and George Askew. She is survived by her son, R. Barry Askew and wife, Mary Ann; 5 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Martha Pollock and Carolyn Dutton; and many other relatives. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 pm on , 16, 2016 at Parklawn-Wood . A celebration of Evelyns life will follow at 3:00 pm. Interment will be held at 2:00 pm on , 17 at Hampton-Veterans Memorial Gardens. The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to a charity of your choice.
