Obituary: Clifton Eugene Arrington, son of the late Joseph Henry Arrington and Lillie Mae Robinson Arrington of Halifax, North Carolina was born on 2, 1947 and departed this life on 20, 2015. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Joseph L. Arrington and sister, Genette A. Lynch, maternal grandparents, Florence Robinson and Matthew Robinson; paternal grandparents, Mary Hawkins Arrington and Joseph H. Arrington. Clifton was affectionately known as Gene, Uncle Pootsey, Smiley, Boze, Jack Rabbit, Cliff and Mr. James. Gene was educated in Halifax , North Carolina Public Schools. At an early age, he gave his life to Christ and was baptized at Springfield Baptist Church in Littleton, North Carolina. He later moved to Richmond, Virginia where he worked for Valley Plating, Inc., Virginia Plating, Jones Janitorial Services, and Service Master. He was a hard and dedicated worker until his health began to fail. Gene had a million dollar smile that captured the hearts of everyone he met. He was a family man and loved social gatherings. Gene also loved the Dallas Cowboys. He never complained about anything and whenever you asked him how he was, his response was always pretty good, pretty good or pretty well, pretty well. Gene was a humble man with a kind, pure, and gentle heart towards everyone and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him because he never met a stranger. He leaves to cherish his precious memories, his devoted family: daughter, Portia Nichole Nikki Arrington, Chesapeake, VA; two sisters, Lillie Faye Arrington of Richmond, Virginia and Joyce Ann Arrington of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina; nieces, Joann Arrington, Terry Arrington, Jacquelyn Gordon, Gwendolyn Burke, Keisha Broady, and Angelica Williams; nephews, Nate Arrington, George A. Lynch, Jerry Lynch, Michael Lynch, Donald Lynch, Johneil Arrington and Doneil Arrington, brother-in-law, George Lynch; special friends, Marlene Matthews, John Robinson, and Frank Lawrence and a host of other relatives and friends. by Chiles can be viewed at the bottom of this page. |
