Obituary: Leona Dickenson Armentrout, 100, died on , 13, 2015 at Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community. She was born in Rockingham , on 7, 1915, and was the daughter of the late Oscar V. and Ruth (Simmons) Dickenson. A member of Dayton United Methodist Church, Mrs. Armentrout participated in several groups at the church, including the School Class, the Mission Bible Circle and the United Methodist Women. She was a graduate of Dayton High School and was employed at F.W. Woolworth, B. Ney and Sons, and in 1977 after 35 years in retail she retired from Joseph Neys. During WWII, Mr. and Mrs. Armentrout moved to Alexandria, VA, where Mr. Armentrout worked for the Department of the Navy. Following the war, they moved back to Harrisonburg. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband C. Lloyd Armentrout, with whom she shared a devoted and blessed union of more than 44 years. married on May 13, 1942. Also preceding Mrs. Armentrout in death were, three sisters, Grace Long, Bernice Powers and Doris Jean Combs; and four brothers, Aubrey, Lawrence, Eugene, Houston Dickenson, Sr. and an infant brother Everett. She is survived by a special sister-in-law, Jo Ellen Dickenson; as well as a number of nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; and great-great-nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held on , 16, 2015 at 2:00 pm in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens with Pastor Steve Bird officiating. There will be no formal receiving of friends and family. Friends and relatives are invited to visit Lindsey , 473 S. Main St. Harrisonburg, VA 22801, at their own convenience to view on , 15, 2015 from 9:00 am\ 8:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, friends and family are also invited to send memorial contributions to the Dayton United Methodist Church, 215 Ashby St. Dayton, VA 22821.
