Obituary: Bessie English Acree, 94, of Martinsville, died , 13, 2015, at her residence. She was born in Reidsville, NC to Joseph and Nannie Hodges. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Hiram Patrick English, her second husband, Harold Acree, her siste,r Jean Gibbs, and her brothers, Carl and Raymond Hodges. She is survived by her daughters, Yvonne Gravely and Nancy Castevens, Nancy's husband Monty, and grandchildren Charles Castevens, Marty Gravely, and Julia Gravely. She is also survived by her sisters, Jeanette Newman, Josephine Anthony, Betty Roark, Daisy Gibbs, Ruth Hunley, Margaret Moore, and Sally Gamber, and her brother Bobby Hodges. The funeral service will be held , 16, 2015, at 2:00 PM at McKee-Stone , Martinsville Chapel. Interment will be held at Roselawn Burial Park. Obituary: Irvin Eugene Acors, 79, passed away on , 11, 2016. He was born in Richmond and was a resident of Hampton for 40 years. Irvin was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Hampton Ward and served as a Patriarch. He retired from the U.S. Air Force as MSgt after 23 years and then began a second career with the U.S. Postal Service and retired again after 20 years of service. his retirements, Irvin worked as a funeral associate with Parklawn-Wood until his passing. He enjoyed playing basketball and had coached his church team, baseball, taking care of his yard, and being outdoors. Irvin was the last of 13 siblings. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Rita Gladys Acors; daughters, Becky Lou McDowall and husband, Gary of England, and Lynnette Christine Dillabough and husband, Dennis Dale of Washington; grandchildren, Ella, Rosie, Ammon, Emily, and Cyrus; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on , 15, 2016 at Parklawn-Wood . A celebration of Irvins life will be held at 10:00 AM on , 16, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1510 Todds Lane, in Hampton. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park.
