Obituary: Katherine Hawks Abbott, 87, of Lynchburg, passed away on , 28, 2010 at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was married to Julian Morris Abbott for 44 years before he passed away. Katherine was born on May 24, 1923 in Bedford , Virginia, a daughter of the late Annie and Willie Hawks. She retired as a supervisor from Imperial Reading after 39 years of service. Katherine was a member of Forest United Methodist Church for 67 years. Along with her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Dottie Mae Coleman, and her brother Carl Hawks. Katherine is survived by her daughter, Sandra A. Ooten; and her son J. Maurice Abbott, Jr., and his wife Ruth; her two sisters: Geraldine Hatcher, and Janet Farish; her three grandchildren: Timothy Abbott, Mark Ooten, and his wife Kelly, and Mary Ooten; her great-grandson, Logan Ooten; and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be conducted on , 30, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Virginia Memorial Park with Rev. Bill Burleigh officiating. The family will receive friends on , 29, 2010 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at Whitten Timberlake Chapel and other times at the home of her son, J. Obituary: James Edward Abbott, 74, of Evington, passed away , 5, 2015, at the Lynchburg and Rehabilitation . Born 30, 1940, in Bedford , he was the son of the late James Vernon Abbott and the late Mollie Slough Abbott. James was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. He was a loving son, father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather. In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by two sisters, Etta Mae Abbott and Myrlin A. Dunn; and one brother, Billy Abbott. James is survived by his son, Jimmy Abbott and his wife of Lynchburg; his sister, Catherine A. Dudley and her husband Willard (who was a very special brother-in-law who is loved and cared for by the entire family) of Evington; two grandchildren, Kimberley Abbott Stewart and her husband Michael of Texas and Coty Abbott of Lynchburg; three great grandchildren, Shane Stewart, Matthew Stewart and Khloe Stewart, all of Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family members. A graveside service, requested by James, will be conducted 1:00 p.m., , 7, 2015, at Fort Hill Memorial Park. By James request, there will be no scheduled visitation hours at the funeral home but friends and family are welcome to visit at Whitten Timberlake Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either Centra Hospice, 2097 Langhorne Rd., Lynchburg, VA 24501 or the American Cancer Society, 2500 Langhorne Rd. #201, Lynchburg, VA 24501. Obituary: ABBOTT, Mr. Frank L., of Midlothian, Va., passed away 20, 2015, at his home. Frank was born in Clifton Forge, Va. and graduated in 1963 from Clifton Forge High School, where he played football and ran track. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Clifton Forge. He attended Virginia Tech and graduated in 1967. Frank was a medic in the Virginia National Guard from 1968 to 1974. Out of college, Frank worked for UVB in Richmond until 1980, when he went to work for Henrico Mutual Insurance later purchased by Rockingham Mutual Insurance . He later moved to marketing for Northern Neck Insurance, where he retired in 2013. Frank was an active member of Virginia Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (VAMIC) and was president of the association and planned association meetings and golf outings. Frank was preceded in death by his father, Earl Leighton Abbott; mother, Flora Coleman Abbott; and sister, Flora Stewart Bemus. He is survived by his brother, Earl Leighton Abbott and wife, Susan; sister, Jo Ann Abbott Hart and husband, Samuel; nieces, Ann Gordon Lehew, Susan Campbell Chewning, Ruth Ann Beemus Lilly and Beth Leigh Abbott Johnston; and nephews, Gregory P. Campbell, Charles Stewart Beemus, James Leighton Gordon, Earl Leighton Abbott III. Frank will always be remembered as a devoted sports fan and a tremendous Virginia Tech Hokie football fan, having had season tickets for over 35 years. The family will receive friends for a celebration of his life , 25, 2015, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Parham Chapel, Woody , 1771 Parham Rd., Richmond, Va. Obituary: Frances W. Abbott, 94, went home to be with her Lord on , 31, 2015. Born in Albemarle on 3, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Oscar Woodson and Ethel Moses Woodson. Frances was a member of the Bethany Baptist Church. She retired from Frank Ix & Sons. Survivors include her sister, Shelby Zedekar and her husband, Raymond of Houston Texas; two granddaughters, Sara Beth Abbott and Tori Abbott Dukes and her husband, Jim of Pearland, Texas; two great-grandchildren, Kyndell Nichole and Kamren James Dukes of Pearland, Texas; one great-great-grandson named Drew, and many nieces, nephews, and friends She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Abbott; a son, Ralph Raymond Abbott; four brothers, Archie Woodson, John Woodson, Jack Woodson, and Harry Lee Woodson; and three sisters, Irene Woodson, Pauline Wingfield, and Lucille Abbott. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. , 4, 2015, in the Teague Chapel with the Rev. Robert Price and Bill Mills officiating. Interment will follow at Monticello memorial Gardens.
