Obituary: Dagmer Bylund Aycock, 96, of Orem, Utah, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend to so many passed peacefully in her home on 27, 2011 surrounded by her family. She is now reunited with her beloved husband, Thomas Ed Edward Aycock, after 40 years, as well as her little boy Max Edward Aycock. Dagmer was born in Santaquin, Utah to Eric Olaf and Sophia Kirstine Johansen Bylund on 7, 1915. She graduated from Provo High School and later attended Brigham Young Academy. While attending the academy she met and married Ed on 27, 1934 in the Salt Lake Temple. living in Salt Lake, Provo and Mountain View, Wyoming, Dagmer and Ed finally settled down in Vernal to raise their five children Max, Ann, Jenny, Paul and Lowell. Under the difficult circumstances of those times, Dagmers skills as a homemaker, especially as a seamstress, cook and her ability to preserve food, blessed her family and created a lasting appreciation in her children for her resourcefulness and dedication to her family. Ed passed away, Dagmer worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Dan Price, DDS, for many years in Vernal. She later moved to Provo where she worked for Brigham Young University for ten years as Head Resident at Helaman Halls. Dagmer loved and considered a number of the student-residents of Helaman Halls as her own children, and they in return as a second mother. She maintained a number of these relationships and connections until the day she passed away. Dagmer enjoyed following her favorite sporting teams, especially her beloved BYU football team and attended a number of the Bowl games. A dedicated Jazz fan, Dagmer rarely missed a televised game. She also enjoyed playing golf and was particularly proud of her hole-in-one. As a devoted and active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Dagmer devoted countless hours serving in numerous church callings and faithfully served as a Visiting Teacher up until 2009. Dagmer also belonged to many womens clubs while living in Vernal. As a result of her pleasant personality, cheerful nature, and her ability to take genuine interest in everyone she met, Dagmer never met a stranger. Dispensers filled with M&Ms were always a favorite of her grandkids that could only be topped by her signature chocolate Grammy-Treats. Her whole wheat bread that was shared with her family and friends was legendary. Although her grandkids will miss these treats, as well everyone else who was fortunate to have received them, they are only secondary to missing her wink and smile that instantly conveyed her unconditional love them. Dagmer is survived by her four of her five children Ann VanBezooyen Aycock, San Jose, CA; Genevieve Jones (Wayne), Vernal, UT; Paul Eric Aycock, Layton, UT; Lowell Thomas Aycock (Nancy), Vernal, UT; 14 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Ruth Kjar and Colleen Dogarrd, and her devoted younger brother Sterling Bylund. She is preceded in death by her husband Ed, son Max, parents, and siblings Carlea, Gordon, Howard, LaMar, and Elmer A viewing will be held 2, 2011, at 9:00 AM at the Suncrest Stake , 90 North 600 West, Orem, Utah. services will follow that same day, and at that same location, at 10:00 AM. The family would like to thank the dedicated staff and personnel at Courtyard at Jamestown, where Dagmer resided for the last three years, the Hearts for Hospice nurses, and the Bishop and Relief Society of the Suncrest 10th Ward. |
