Obituary: James W. Anderson, M.D 11, 1924 - May 25, 2008 James W. Anderson, M.D. died , May 25, 2008, at the Utah Valley Regional Medical in Provo, Utah, of complications following surgery. Dr. Anderson was born 11, 1924, in Otto, Wyoming, to Myra Tolman and Ernest N. Anderson. He graduated from Greybull High School where he starred in both basketball and football. He joined the Army Air Corp in 1942 and served as a high altitude training technician. While stationed at Barksdale Field he married his high school sweetheart, Jean Croft, on 11, 1944, in Shreveport, Louisiana. were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on 23, 1945. Following his graduation from the University of Wyoming, Jim taught science at Powell High School in Wyoming for a year. In 1954 he graduated from the University of Colorado School of Medicine. There he was elected a member of Alpha Omega Alpha-an honorary medical society. His internship was served at Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona. He practiced medicine in Lovell, Wyoming, for 4 years before moving to Phoenix where he practiced for 41 years. Professionally, in 1981 Dr. Anderson was Chief of Staff at Doctors Hospital in Arizona. He was also a member of the drug abuse committee for the Maricopa Medical Society for which he received an award of merit for his outstanding service and support of innovative programs for the treatment of drug abuse. For 50 years he was a member of the Arizona Academy of Family Physicians and a charter member of the American Academy of Family Practice. As an active member of the LDS Church, Jim served as Counselor then Bishop of the Phoenix East 15\ Ward, a Counselor and President of the Phoenix East Stake and a Regional Representative in the Mesa/Tempe Arizona Area. Dr. Anderson is survived by his wife, Jean; a daughter, Kay; a sister, Donna Anderson Harston Michaelson; 8 grandchildren, 5+ great-grandchildren, and by his much-loved in-laws Willis Michaelson, Venus Anderson, Pete and Helen (Croft) Peters, Mary (Croft) Kocherhans, Richard J. Croft and Deana Cheatham, Manfred and Carol (Croft) Nelson, Barton and Lynne (Croft) Lynn and innumerable nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by a son, Greg; his parents; a brother, Dee; a nephew, Jim and brothers-in-law, Miles Harston and J. Rex Kocherhans. The family would like to express special thanks to those at the Utah Valley Regional Medical and Utah Valley Specialty Hospital who cared for Dr. Anderson in such a loving and professional way. Their thanks extends to all the PCTs, housekeeping, cafeteria and valet employees as well. The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to either the Perpetual Education or the Humanitarian Fund of the LDS Church. services will be held on , May 31st, 2008, at 12:00 noon, at Cascade 1st Ward Chapel, 481 E. Obituary: Ivan Carl Anderson, age 93 was born 4, 1923 to Carl and Susie Anderson in Richmond, Utah, and passed away peacefully in his home 2, 2017. Ivan graduated from North Cache High School in Richmond, Utah in 1942 and received a Union Pacific Scholarship to Utah State University in Agriculture. Ivan was a World War II veteran who served 34 months in the army 401st Field Artillery Group and participated in five different campaigns including the Battle of the Bulge, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe. He spent 141 continuous days in combat and was awarded the bronze star for laying communication line across the Rhine River under heavy mortar and sniper fire. Ivan was active in the LDS church and held many positions in both his stake and local wards. He loved the Lord and his priesthood. Ivan worked for John Deere, Caterpillar, Marquart Aerospace and Hercules, Inc. from where he retired in 1986. Ivan married Nadine Johnson 5, 1943 in the Logan LDS temple. Nadine was his life. Ivan and Nadine had four children, Ivan Dean (Diana), Glen C (Rachel), Shanen Fletcher (deceased), and Carl (Cindy) Anderson. Ivan has 15 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. Ivan liked to hunt and fish with his sons, grandsons, family and friends, and especially liked fishing, camping and golfing with Nadine, his pride and joy, who could often out fish him. enjoyed being together more than anything else. Ivans special fishing friends were Lee Newman, Ron Black and Ray Hansen. His largest fish was a 62 lb king Salmon caught on the Keni River in Alaska, and his most enjoyable fishing experience was in the Canadian Klondike with his son Glen and grandson Rob. Ivan was preceded in death by Nadine after 63 years together, and his daughter Shanen. We know they were waiting for him with open arms. A viewing will be held from 10:00 am - 11:45 am 10th with funeral services following at 12:00 pm at the Jordan North 8th Ward, 3900 South 4000 West, West Valley City Utah. Interment will be held at Valley View , 4335 West 4100 South, West Valley City, Utah, immediately following the funeral. |

Obituary: Helen Stratton Anderson Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Helen Stratton Anderson, of Orem, passed away peacefully on , 29, 2009. Helen was born in Provo Bench on 3, 1925 to John Briggs and Ruby Jane Larsen Stratton. Helen is survived by her loving husband, Charles Emery Anderson, of 64 years; sister MarJean Stubbs, brother Richard B. Stratton; children Charles Russell (Karalue) Anderson, Marjorie (Gary) Points, JaNae Jones, Shellee Anderson, and Alan Emery (Katherine) Anderson; 23 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. Helens life was dedicated to providing and caring for her family. She married the love of her life, Chuck, in the Logan Temple on 20, 1944. Helen had exquisite taste and style, apparent in her abilities as an artist, seamstress and homemaker. Her home was always beautiful as she strived to make it heaven on earth. While raising five children, Helen attended Brigham Young University with her daughters and received a Bachelor of Science in Economics Education. She embraced the Gospel of Jesus Christ and spent her life trying to live its principles in order to build the Kingdom of God on earth. She stood for truth and righteousness and fervently prayed that her posterity would always defend their faith. She completed her church callings with great care and dedication, serving honorably in the Provo Temple, American Fork Temple and as a guide at Temple Square in Salt Lake City. Chuck and Helen had the opportunity to fulfill two missions in the Chile Santiago North Mission where they helped build a chapel, reactivated dozens of members and served in the Santiago Temple. Her dedication to the women of the Church was immeasurable as an exemplary leader in numerous stake and ward Relief Society and Young Women presidencies. Helen Stratton Anderson was quite a lady. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that any donations be made to the Perpetual Education Fund of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Please join her family in honoring her life. services will be held , May 4, 2009 at 11:00 a.m., in the Vermont Chapel, 430 East 400 North, Orem. A viewing will be held for family and friends , May 3, 2009 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Walker Sanderson , 646 East 800 North, Orem and also from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the services.
