Obituary: Col. Sam Taylor Seeley, born 16, 1933, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2015 in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 81. He was born in Manila, Philippine Islands, the son of Brig. Gen. Sam Foster Seeley and Margaret Sweet Seeley. He attended Texas Military Institute, earned a Bachelor of Science in Zoology from the University of Maryland and a Master of Hospital Administration from Baylor University. Col. Seeley served in the US Army Medical Service Corp for thirty years and retired in May of 1986 as the chief-of-staff of Walter Reed Army Medical , having also served tours in Korea and Vietnam. On 28, 1956 he married his greatest love, Muriel Eastlack Seeley, who preceded him in death on 2nd of this year. moving 22 times in his 30-year career, Col. Seeley retired from active duty and moved to South Boston, Virginia. During their retirement they spent winters in Florida, went on cruises across the world, and spent summers at Topsail Island, North Carolina with friends and family. His grandchildren consider their times at Topsail Island, where Sam would often be seen sporting his famous Speedo, among the most special times with their grandfather. Col. Seeley is survived by daughters Margaret Seeley Ruffino (Steve) and Kathleen Seeley Stephens (Charles); grandchildren Marilyn Burkholder, Sarah Burkholder, Maggie Stephens Gambrel (Bobby), Scott Stephens (Elizabeth), and Samantha Seeley Stephens; and three great-grandchildren Seeley Lucille Stephens, Gus Owen Stephens and Caroline McGowan Gambrel. Obituary: Col. Walton A. Rutledge, US Army (ret.), age 93, passed away on , 30, 2014 in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on 30, 1920 in San Antonio, to parents, Nealy Willard and Martha Mable Rutledge. Walton received his Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Maryland followed by a Master of Arts Degree from Trinity University in San Antonio. Walton entered the United States Army on 15, 1944 in New Orleans, Louisiana. While in the Army, he continued his education by attending the U.S. Army Transportation Corps Basic and Advanced Courses at Fort Eustis, Virginia; the U.S. Army command and General Staff at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas; and the United States Naval War at Newport, Rhode Island. Walton retired from Fort Sam Houston, Texas on 31, 1975, having served more than 31 years of which more than 8 years were served overseas including 28 months in Vietnam. During his service he earned several awards and decorations to include the Legion of Merit with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, the Bronze Star Medal, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Army Commendation Medal with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, the Army of Occupation Medal (Germany) and the Vietnam Service Medal with 6 Campaign Stars. In addition, Walton was authorized the wear the Army General Staff Identification Badge. He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Jean W. Rutledge. Walton is survived by his children, Dorothy Jean Hull, Edwin Curll, Jr. and wife Karen, Nancy Vargas and husband Steven; 7 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren. Colonel Rusinko was born to Andrew and Ann Rusinko in Nanticoke, Pennsylvania on 12, 1931. Colonel Rusinko is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Yolanda Rusinko and his children, Andrew Rusinko, III, Rachel Arsena and Malia Ploetz; his sister, Faith Scozzari. Colonel Rusinko is also survived by his daughter-in-law, Kathy Rusinko and son-in-laws, Sal Arsena and Scott Ploetz, as well as his grandchildren, Jessica Dyer and husband, Adam Dyer, Ashley Arsena and husband, Chris Arsena, Lt. Andrew Rusinko and wife, Alisha Rusinko, Mary Sumner, Rebecca Johnson and husband, Steve Johnson, Kara Ploetz, Sara Ploetz and Londa Ploetz, Katie Rusinko, Lauren Arsena and Steven Arsena. Great-grandchildren include, Lea Connerly, Aiden Ploetz London Dyer and Jaycee Johnson. Poppa will be greatly missed. Colonel Rusinko entered the US Army Reserves in 1956 and then as commissioned 2LT assigned to Student Detachment, Headquarters, Second Army with station Georgetown University until 1957. From 1957 through 1958, he was placed in the Officer US Army Reserves. In 1958, Colonel Rusinko re-entered active duty in Student Officer Status and in 1958 was assigned as General Medicine Officer with US Army Hospital, Fort Eustis, Virginia until 1961. His first overseas tour of duty was in Hawaii from 1961 through 1965 where he did four years Residency Training in General Surgery with Student Detachment Tripler General Hospital. Upon his return from Hawaii, he was stationed at Fort Devens, Massachusetts as Chief, General Surgery Section, U S Army Hospital until 1966 when he was transferred to 12th Evacuation Hospital, Vietnam. From 1967 through 1969, Colonel Rusinko returned to US Army Hospital, Fort Devens, Massachusetts, as Chief, Department of Surgery. His third overseas tour was in Germany from 1969 through 1972 with 2nd General Hospital where he served first as Chief, General Surgery Section; then as Assistant Chief, Department of Surgery; and finally as Chief, Department of Surgery. Upon his return from Germany and through 1976, he was stationed at Dwight D. Eisenhower Medical , Fort Gordon, Georgia as Chief, Department of Surgery. In 1976, he was assigned as Surgery Consultant for Services Command, Fort Sam Houston, Texas. Obituary: Arthur H. Kennedy, Colonel, US Army, born on 09 , 1922 entered peaceful rest on 15 , 2006 at the age of 84. He is survived by his wife Ruth Jane Kennedy; son Thomas W. Kennedy and wife Joyce Kennedy; granddaughter Jennifer Kennedy DeCerb and husband Brian; and great-granddaughters, Mia DeCerb and Sophia DeCerb; grandson Thomas F. Kennedy and wife Janine Kennedy; and great-granddaughter Gillian C. Kennedy. Colonel Kennedy was born into an Army family at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. To him the Army was his life and he served his country for thirty-one years. He was a member of the 101st Airborne Division throughout World War II, participating in the Normandy, Holland, and Bastogne Operations. He also served in the 82nd Airborne Division for six years at Fort Bragg, N.C. and then joined the 7th Infantry Division in the landing at Inchon in the Korean War. He served as the Airborne Advisor to Chiang Kai-ShekÂs elite Airborne Brigade in Taiwan. On his second tour of duty in Korea, he was the United States Representative with the United National Advisory Group, Chief of Joint Observer Teams in Panjumon, Korea. Throughout his career, he served in many capacities as a commander and staff officer of which six years were spent in the Pentagon on the Army General Staff. He attended the Army Command and General Staff at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, the Armor Officer Advanced Course at Fort Knox, Kentucky, and taught as a staff member of the Infantry School at Fort Benning, Georgia. As a member of the 101st Airborne Division and specifically the 502nd Parachute Infantry Regiment, he was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation with a Cluster, the Belgian Fourragere 1940, and the Belgian Croix De Guerre 1940 with Palm, the Dutch Orange Lanyard of Netherlands, and the French Croix De Guerre with Palm. He also was awarded numerous U.S. medals and citations such as a Legion of Merit with two Clusters, two Bronze Stars for valor, the Purple Heart, and the Combat Infantry Badge with Star, the Department of Defense Commendation Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, and the Master Parachutists Badge. He retired from the Army on 1 1971. Reflecting his devotion to serve, he attended the University of Notre Dame to secure a Masters Degree in Education. For the next fifteen years, he devoted his life to teaching mathematics to high school students, many of whom followed his advice and chose one of the military academies for their education and a career in the military services. He was extremely kind and considerate toward everyone he met. This was reflected in his devotion to assisting in the care of patients as a volunteer in Wilford Hall Medical , USAF at Lackland AFB, Texas.
