Obituary: On Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 24, 2005, the Lord took back into His arms His gift to the world, Arispe. Faithful and devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle and St. HenryÂs parishioner, Alfred touched our lives with his unswerving trust in God and others. To Alfred, a promise was something that you kept and a lasting agreement in business could be made on a handshake. Born in San Antonio on Dec. 9, 1921, Alfred proudly served his country in WWII as a radio operator on the USS Lamson DD 367 and later worked hard to support his family as an owner of a small business of steam cleaners and car washes. He was preceded in death by his father, Manuel Arispe, and mother, Juanita Casanova Arispe, of Canary Island descent, and brother, Manuel Arispe Jr. Alfred is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Irene Fernandez Arispe; daughters, Nancy Roth-Roffy and Susan Marr and son-in-law, Nils Marr. He is also survived by brothers, Adolph and John Henry Arispe; sisters, Trinidad Hitzfeldt, Esther Hernandez and Liria Torres, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In Tribute and Remembrance By Daughter, Nancy Roth-Roffy On behalf of my Mom, Sister and Brother-in-Law, I thank you all for your presence and comfort to us tonight. On Thanksgiving Day, the Lord took back into his arms His gift to the world who was my father. From my beautiful Mom, I am learning all about strength -- and from my sweet father, I learned to trust. Daddy had an absolutely unswerving trust Â- in God and in others. Over the years, whenever he had decisions to make, heÂd usually take the risk because Â- as he told us time and time again Â- he knew that everything would work out. God would take care of things and we would be alright. all, we would be together. Daddy made every day Thanksgiving Â- and every day, for the rest of our lives, we will remain thankful for his lessons to us on what it means to love, to keep your word and to help those around you who needed a hand. Last , our prayers were answered when he crossed into the light, just a breath away from my Mom, Susan, Nils and me. His death was as beautiful a blessing as was his life. As I sat next to him on his bed, and leaned over to hold him in my arms for our last dance, I thanked him for being our incredible example of giving and shepherding and honoring all of GodÂs creation. Obituary: Thomas Charles Aring was born on 23, 1951 in Rock Island, Illinois to Russell Aring and Maryrose Miller. Thomas departed this life on 26, 2015 at the age of 64. He grew up in Illinois with his six siblings, Robert, Mary Elizabeth, Joseph, William, Jeanne, and Paul. Tom attended St. Joseph elementary, Alleman Catholic High School, and ana where he received a bachelors degree in History. serving as a Peace Corps volunteer in the Philippines from 1973 to 1976, where he met Remedios, his wife of 40 years, he began his career in the retail industry. He started out in the grocery business as a night crew chief for Eagles in Illinois. He later moved his family to Dallas to work as a store manager and subsequently as a district manager for Eckerd Drug Corporation where he spent the bulk of his career. His passion was researching the WWII island of Corregidor in the Philippines and trekked to this island almost every year for the last 15 years. He dedicated countless hours reading books on the subject, to personal conversations with a number of Corregidor WWII Veterans and other Corregidor history enthusiasts during his trips to the island and attendance of WWII Vets reunions in the US. He found personal satisfaction and delight in posting his insights in website forums and blogs to uncover the lost history of that island, which he and his colleagues lovingly referred to as The Rock. Tom relished spending time with his family at home on the stone patio which the family built with a fire pit because he so loved building a fire. He was aptly named Prairie Fire during his Father and son Indian Guides camping trips. He loved to cook out on his grill, and to tend to his yard and vegetable and flower garden. He is the ultimate optimist always hoping to have a good harvest of tomatoes in an unforgiving Texas heat. He was a kind, compassionate, loving, thoughtful man whose loving heart touched many lives. His employees and associates admired and respected him for his rare insight and uncanny ability to read people and treat them with deep empathy. Thomas is survived by his wife, Remedios Bondoc Aring, his two children, Stephen Aring of Aubrey, Texas (married to Allison Stella Aring) and Kelly Coffman of Denver, Colorado (married to Shane Coffman). He is also survived by his two grandsons, Liam and Aidan Aring, his brothers Robert, Joseph and William (all of Illinois), and his sisters Mary Beth Aring (of Delaware) and Jeanne Bennett (of Washington). The family will have a wake , 30th from 5:00 - 8:00 PM and a memorial service , 1st from 11:30 AM - 12:30 PM immediately followed by a reception.
