Obituary: Roxabelle Roxie (Clark) Andrus, age 92, went to be with her Lord and Savior on 28, 2016, in Bastrop, TX. She was born 15, 1924 in East Jordan MI. She was the daughter of Vernon and Edith Cyrena (Carroll) Clark. Roxie was united in marriage to Wayne Reuel Andrus on 18, 1942. She loved her Lord first, and then her family and loved taking care of the home. She was an expert seamstress, quilter, crocheter and knitter. Roxie taught all of her daughters and granddaughters her homemaking skills and love for crafts. She loved to share the talents God had given her. She even taught her grandsons to cook and they thought it was fun to help Grandma with washing the dishes. Roxie was involved in many different types of church ministries. She taught School, worked in the nursery, was a dedicated choir member and served on various ladies ministries. Her love for music permeated her life and the lives of those around her. She loved playing her alto saxophone for the Lord in sax trios, duets and many, many solos. She played the same sax throughout her life. It was the one her father bought for her for $120 in 1939 when she was 12 years old. She and her five siblings had their own family band called The Michigan Honey Harmonizers. The band played many years for the Michigan Beekeepers Association. Roxie and Wayne, as a couple, joined the RVICS (Roving Volunteers In Christs Service) organization where they learned new skills and they were able to share they skills they had. It brought new meaning to their Christian life. The purpose of RVICS is to help Christian s, Christian campgrounds, many churches and help construction with some building programs. served from Michigan to Florida and any place in between. loved to travel and camping. Roxie is survived by Wayne Andrus, her husband of 73 years, 3 daughters: Carol Judy (Andrus) Leib, Rebecca Lynn Dowdy and husband Ken Dowdy and Deborah Mae (Andrus) Halstead. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 11 great great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-great granddaughter and her sister Marlene (Hank) Antone. Roxie was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Edith Clark as well as 2 brothers and 3 sisters. At 11 AM on , May 2, 2016 a Celebration of Life will be held at Rosanky Baptist Church. Family and friends are invited to share memories and see images of Roxie's life beginning at 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be offered to the Rosanky Baptist Church Building Fund in Roxies name. under the direction of Marrs-Jones-Newby , Bastrop, TX. |

Obituary: Horace Greaves Andrus, 98 of San Angelo, passed away on 21, 2016. He was born in San Angelo, Texas to Horace and Dulcye Andrus on 7, 1917. He was raised in San Angelo, where he graduated from high school in 1936. While going to school, he contributed to the support of his family, after the death of his father, by working on a ranch outside of San Angelo. high school Horace followed in his fathers footsteps and started working on the Railroad as a brakeman for the Santa Fe Railroad. starting work, Horace met, fell in love, and married Clara Ruth Mathews on 1, 1941. On 7, 1941 Horace learned of the attack on Pearl Harbor at his birthday party and immediately volunteered to serve in the U.S. Marine Corps. Horace served in the Pacific Theater for the remainder of the war; participating in the invasions of Peleliu, Okinawa, and Guam as an amphibious tank gunner and ultimately serving as part of the mainland occupation force in Japan. Horace was highly decorated for his service. His numerous awards included Victory in the Pacific Medal and the Purple Heart. World War II, Horace returned to his job on the Santa Fe Railroad where he retired in 1978. During his life and even well into his 90s, he was an avid fisherman and kayaker. He even made his own jigs, fly rods, kayaks, and special recipes for bait. He will be remembered as a gentle soul with a ready smile and an easy chuckle. Horace was preceded in death by his wife of more than 50 plus years, Clara Ruth Mathews. Survivors include his daughters: Patricia Wooley and Bonnie (Jack) Waide; grandsons: Grant (Kelly) Wooley, Eric (Tiffany) Wooley, Kyle (Christine) Waide, and Blaine and Reid Waide; great-grandchildren: Brandon (fiancée Racheal) Wooley, Emmett Waide, and Cate and Rosie Waide. A private family graveside service with military honors was held on , 25th in Fairmount with Chaplain Domingo Lopez of Gentiva Hospice officiating. were under the care and direction of Johnsons .
