Obituary: Iris M. Anderson, 93, passed away on 30, 2017. Iris was born in Pittsburg, PA, on 21, 1923, to Swen and Hilma Swensson. Iris was married for 71 years to Robert P. Anderson, who pre-deceased her by 12 days. Iris was the youngest of 3 children, raised in a Swedish community in Chicago. She was a graduate of North Park University. She earned a RN nursing degree and was first employed as a surgical nurse at Swedish Covenant Hospital in Chicago. She married her husband in 1946. Bob received his doctoral degree, they moved to Austin in 1952 and then to Lubbock in 1955, where Bob assumed a faculty position in psychology. Bob and Iris remained Lubbock residents for 62 years, including 37 years in Ransom Canyon and their final 12 years at Carillon Community. Iris returned to school in the early 1960s, receiving a BA in Speech and Hearing. Along with Bob, she was a pioneer in working with learning disabled children, serving as director of an after school program for learning disabled children at St. Christophers Episcopal Church in the 1960s and 1970s until public schools began offering these services. She completed a Masters degree in school psychology, and worked for 25 years as a school psychological associate in various Lubbock county school districts. Iris served as an Alderwoman and volunteer fireperson at Ransom Canyon in the 1970s. With her husband she enjoyed sailboating, hiking and backpacking, and river rafting. Iris and Bob traveled extensively, beginning with family camping trips to New Mexico, Grand Canyon, Seattle Worlds Fair, followed by many international locations in Europe, Asia and South America. especially enjoyed their Swedish Heritage, with numerous trips to Sweden to maintain and develop contacts with extended family members. She and Bob were faithful patrons of the arts community in Lubbock. Iris is Survived by sons Merrill (Kathleen Senior) of Longmont, Colorado and Stephen (Diane Gérin -Lajoie) of Toronto, Canada, and grandchildren, Nathan, Spencer, Mélanie, and Lindsay. Iris was matriarch of her family, and is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews on her side of the family and by a nephew, Ronald Allen, and cousin, Kim Dahlin Cain of Lubbock, on her husbands side. Obituary: Robert Hugo Anderson, 85, passed from this world into God's hands on , 7, 2015. Robert "Bob" was the second-born of Hugo Johannes Anderson and Signe Wilhelmina Larson Anderson of Washington Depot, Conn. Bob was born in New Milford, Conn., on 25, 1929. He graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y., with a bachelor's in mechanical engineering. college, Bob entered the Marine Corps and served in Korea leading maintenance activities on military airplanes. He was honorably discharged after the war at the rank of first lieutenant. serving in the Marines, Bob worked his entire career in the defense industry at Consolidated Vultee Aircraft, which later became Convair, General Dynamics and, ultimately, Lockheed Martin, where he retired after 41 years. He worked as a propulsion engineer on the Atlas intercontinental ballistic missiles, but spent the bulk of his career designing and building military aircraft, including B-36, YB-60, B-58, F-111, F-16 and the national aerospace plane. He met the love of his life, Barbara Ann Glasco, and they were married Dec. 1, 1956, at Ridglea Methodist Church in Fort Worth. were happily married for over 55 years until her death in 2012. Both were members of First Presbyterian Church of Fort Worth. Survivors: Sons, David Hugo Anderson of Lake Oswego, Ore., Steven Robert Anderson of Cedar Park; daughters-in-law, Susan Anderson and Natalie Anderson; his wonderful grandchildren, Reid, Ragen, Fletcher and Carina; older brother, Carl Andrew Anderson and wife, Wanda, of Virginia; and younger brother, William Richard Anderson and wife, Kathy, of Connecticut. Obituary: Services will be at 2 p.m. in Tenth Avenue United Methodist Church with the Rev. Tommy Ewing officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park by Memorial Park , 6969 E. Interstate 40. Mr. Anderson was born Nov. 11, 1929, in Childress to Jim Dee and Earlie Victoria Reed Anderson. He graduated from Childress High School in 1948. graduating, he joined the U.S. Navy and served from 1948 to 1952. Mr. Anderson married Linda Miller on 21, 1969. He worked for Texaco Refinery for 31 years before retiring in 1985. He was a member of Tenth Avenue United Methodist Church for 46 years, serving in various capacities including school teacher, choir member, greeter, chairman of the board of trustees, finance committee member, pastor parish relations committee member and chairman of the Harvest Festival committee. Andy also served at the Wesley Community for three years on the board of trustees, nine years on the board of directors and as president in 1981. He also was a member of the Sunrise Lions Club for 15 years and served in various capacities including secretary, treasurer and president. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Juanita Wright; and two brothers, Harold and Bill Anderson. Survivors include his wife, Linda Anderson of Amarillo; a son, Steve Anderson and wife Rachel of Fort Worth; two daughters, Susan Owens and husband Ron of Temple and Susan Skaggs and husband Hal of Amarillo; four brothers, Darold Anderson and Don Anderson and wife Shari, all of Fort Worth, Dennis Anderson and wife Cecilia of Wichita Falls, and E.J.
