Obituary: Daryn Lee Alston, son, brother, uncle, friend, kind neighbor, and sports enthusiast died at his home in Austin, Texas on 6, 2017, Daryns passion for work began as a paperboy at the age of 12 years old and that delight in a job well done never left him. For most of his life he worked in the food service industry, starting with a famous Plano establishment, Al Veras Restaurant, in the 1980s, and later spending more than a decade with Bennigans Restaurant. For the last 16 years of his career, Daryn worked tirelessly building one of the first multi-restaurant food delivery companies in the country. His firm, Eat Out In reached $10 million in annual sales for the Austin and San Antonio markets before it was sold in 2015. Daryn was a tireless advocate for his customers and employees. He was a natural leader, with a good heart and a very high bar for the level of service everyone received when they worked with him. Daryn was passionate about his faith. He supported many causes including Wounded Warriors, mission work across Africa and South America, Smile Train, the State of Israel, and the Republican Party. When Daryn was not working, he enjoyed his dogs more than anything else. He was a regular at a nearby Lake Austin beach, where everyone knew and loved his dogs, Bogie, Mulligan, and his newly adopted puppy named Eagle Bear. His second home was in Angel Fire, NM, where he spent a good part of his summers golfing and visiting with his parents and family friends. Daryn graduated from Texas State University-San Marcos with a degree in Geography & Urban & Regional Planning in 1991. He is survived by his parents, Dick and Sue Alston; brothers, Lance Alston of McKinney Texas, Christopher Alston of Plano, sister-in-law, Nidia Alston, his nieces and nephew, whom he adored, Claire, Olivia and Rivers Alston, and his faithful fur-children Bogie, Mulligan, and Eagle Bear. Obituary: Etta Louise Campbell Alsop passed away on , 17, 2014 at Texas Presbyterian Hospital in Plano, Texas. The daughter of Sophia Gaskins and Raymond Campbell, Sr., Etta was born in Donton Mill, Virginia on 30, 1927. Etta attended Lancaster Public Schools and in her youth joined Calvary Baptist Church in Kilmarnock, Virginia. As an adult she moved her membership to Enon Baptist Church in Baltimore, Maryland, where she remained an active member until her health began to fail. Etta was loving and opinionated – unafraid to speak what was on her mind. She cared deeply for her family and friends and loved spending time talking and being with the ones she loved. Her career was dedicated to supporting our countrys government, and she retired from the Social Security Agency in 1988. Etta married James Douglas Alsop, Sr. on 9, 1955. have one son, James Douglas Alsop, Jr. She was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters. Her life and accomplishments are remembered by her son, James Jr., daughter-in-law, Marlene A. Hurd, and grandson, Justin D. Alsop. Her memory is also cherished by two foster sisters: Shirley Womack and Cora Dean; one brother in-law, Andrew J. White; eight sisters in-law: Elois Campbell of Baltimore, MD, Bessie A. Stanback of Portsmouth, VA, Iris Alsop of Washington, DC, Adell Alsop and Myrtle Alsop of Newtown, VA, Roberta White of New Carrollton, MD, Gracie White of Petersburg, VA, Minnie Johnson of Newtown, VA, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Etta joins her husband James Sr. who passed in 2003. |
