Obituary: Lee Lance Allbright was taken to his Lord on 30, 2014, at the age of 87. He was born in McAllen, Hidalgo , Texas, to Earnest Lee and Bonnie Mae Allbright on 17, 1927. On 11, 1943, at the age of 16 Lee joined the Texas State Guard for a tern of 3 years which he never completed because he went into immediate induction to the European Theater of Operations at the end of his junior year of high school. He served in France, Belgium and Germany in the U. S. Infantry, and the 7th Army, 387th Anti-Aircraft Automatic Weapons Division. He married Jacqueline Jean Mauney of Trinidad, Colorado, on 18, 1949, in his junior year at Adams State in Alamosa, Colorado. Lee taught school as a teaching principal in the Mt. Pleasant School in Alamosa Colorado public school in 1950-51 while finishing his B. A. Degree and Post Graduate work. He devoted much of his time in raising a son, Michael Lance, and two daughters, Robin Jean (David) Metting and LeAnn (Gary) OHara, and grandson, Michael Andrew Metting and granddaughter, Madison Grace OHara. Lee is also survived by two sisters, Edna Richards of Kipp, Kansas, and Dorothy Cornelius of Seguin. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Michael Lance Allbright, and wife, Jacqueline on 12, 2014. Lee was employed in the Technical division of DuPont at Victoria, Texas, on 5, 1951; retired after 34 years as Laboratory Supervisor. He had built a desire to do community service works. We are saddened by the passing of a devoted father and grandfather, and loyal friend but we find joy in Gods perfect peace and love. A man can be measured by his influence on others. Lee was truly a good servant whose legacy will continue to prosper through the many lives he touched. Our beloved companion will be dearly missed but his character and presence will always be with us. And we remember we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. We are called to serve. His first ambition was to live in Victoria, and second was to teach school in Victoria. Although he never got back to the classroom, he continued working for the education and edification of children. He served various Parent-Teacher Associations. He was vice-president of the Smith Elementary School in 1962, and president in 1963. He served two terms as president of the Crain Intermediate PTA. He and his wife helped organize Howell Intermediate School PTA of which he served as president, and he and Jackie were given an award for faithful and dedicated service to the Victoria Independent School District from Howell Intermediate School in 1972. He was also awarded a life membership in the State PTA. He served on the Victoria Independent School Board of Trustees for twelve years (1969-1981), and as vice president for over nine years, then president his last year. He was a member of the Texas State School Board Association and the National School Board Association where he served as presenter and/or group discussion. During this period of time the schools across the country were blanketed with charges of student segregation. He along with other board officers served many times at court hearings in Victoria, Dallas and Washington D. C. in protest to accusations of civil rights violations. The will of the people prevailed. Lee served two 2 year terms (1982-85) on the Victoria Tax Appraisal District Board of Directors as secretary. In 1973 Lee served on the Board of Directors of the Golden Council of Governments and a member of the General Assembly. He served on the Victoria Investigative Grand Jury in 1975, 1994 and 1998. He served several times as a precinct election judge. On 14, 1973, he completed a course of study Modern Techniques of Supervision at the Institute of Management at Southern Methodist University, Dallas, Texas. Lee was quite active in getting the University of Houston at Victoria. He was among a team who went before the State Legislature and was successful in 1972. Along with his dedicated service to the community, Lee has been very active in church work. He served as chairman of the Board of Deacons of the First Presbyterian Church for three years, and in 1973 he was ordained for life as a ruling elder. In 1980 he joined the St. Francis Episcopal Church where he served many times on the Vestry, as Junior Warden and Senior Warden several times. He served 25 years as chairman of Parish Life Commission, the Calling and Caring Committee, and choir 12 years. He was chairman of the Annual Audit Committee for 15 years, and served on the Finance Committee for 20 years. He served two terms at the Diocesan level as a member of the Standing Committee, Department of Evangelism, Department of Stewardship, eight years as Chairman of the Lay Ministry Committee which encompassed 92 churches, and Bishops Challenge. He served several times as lay rector of Cursillo Teams and two terms on the Secretariat in the Diocese of West Texas. He served 22 years as lay rector for the 128 Cursillo Reunion Group which met 3 days annually for 22 years at the Well Spring located on the Weddendroff Ranch at Blance, Texas. Obituary: Jacqueline Jean Allbright was taken to her Lord on 12, 2014, at the age of 83. She was born in Corwin Hospital, Pueblo, Colorado, to the late Jean Estell Mauney and Robert Benjamin Mauney, Jr. on 5, 1931, while residing in Trinidad, Colorado. Her senior year, she was elected attendant to the coming Queen for the Annual Ball. 18, 1949, she married Lee Lance Allbright from Beeville who was in his third year at Adams State in Alamosa, Colorado. Jackie will be loved and remembered by her husband of sixty-four years, Lee Allbright and was a devoted mother to son, Michael Lance Allbright and her two daughters, Robin Jean Metting and LeAnn OHara; grandson, Michael Andrew Metting and granddaughter, Madison Grace OHara. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Allbright was preceded in death by her son, Michael Lance Allbright and her brother, Robert Benjamin Mauney, III. Jackie had been a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) since 1980. Enjoying genealogical searches, she traced her family back to the mid-1600s, and discovered her family directly descended from Scotland and Switzerland/Germany. Jackie was passionate about education. As her children moved through the schools, she served as classroom PTA representative, District Chairperson for the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) and volunteered in the public school libraries. Jackie was known to say I always miss the Colorado mountains and snow, but I love living in Victoria most of all, it is home! She was a U.S. Census Collector of Information, clerk at election polls and active in the Woodlawn Garden Club. Jackie served her church, family and community through various organizations.
