Obituary: services for Mattie L. Alford, 86, of White Oak, Texas will be held at 2:00 p.m., , 27, 2010 at Emmanuel Baptist Church 501 E U.S. Hwy 80 White Oak , Texas 75693. A private family entombment will follow. Mrs. Alford was born 18, 1924, in Gilmer, Texas to Orange Frank and Eddie Irene Woodruff Medlin, she passed from this life on 24, 2010 in Longview, Texas. Mrs. Alford moved to White Oak in 1945, where she owned a beauty shop for 34 years. She was a Baptist and a member of the Joy School Class at Emmanuel Baptist Church. She was a loving mother and grandmother and always put her children and grandchildren first. She loved to sew and make family meals. Mrs. Alford is preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Hilton Alford; son, Hilton Lee Alford; and grandson, Sonny Lee Alford; sisters, Effie Garner,; Estalle Walker; Odessa Smith; Jewell Reed; brothers, Cleo Medlin; Clyde Medlin; Johnny Medlin; and Buster Medlin. She is survived by her children Jo Ann Alford Hohrine and husband James; Betty Fenton Lindley and husband Bill; grandchildren Sheryl Ann Hohrine Wagonseller; Marty Wayne Fenton; James Forrest Hohrine; and Shon Alford; great grandchildren, K.C. Wagonseller; Chase Wagonseller; Britni Wagonseller; Amber Fenton Bontreager; Raeghan Michelle Fenton; Jeremy Wayne Fenton; Keilee Jo Hohrine Day; Ann Marie Alford; Christian Alford; a sister, Thelma Beall; and a brother, J.C. Obituary: ALFORD, LEVI GORDON was born 24, 1921. Passed away 2, 2014 in Plano, Texas. Gordon was proud to have served in General George Pattons 3rd Army during WWII. He served in Normandy, Bastone, Sainte-Mere- Eglise, etc. He drove the Red Ball Express delivering gas and supplies to the front lines. Gordon was born in Pickton, Texas, to Effie Keith & Andrew Jackson Alford. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 71 years, Jimmie and 12 siblings. marrying, Gordon & Jimmie made their home in Dallas. retired to Winnsboro, Texas where they were active with Meals on Wheels and driving seniors to church on the Golden Chariot bus. Later they moved back to Dallas to be near family. In the last years of their lives, they moved to Plano. Gordon leaves to mourn his legacy, his son, Richard and his wife Evelyn of Garland, grandsons Gary and his wife Michelle of Arlington and Mike and his wife Annie of Dallas along with two great-grandchildren. He left his sister, Dutch Arnold of Sulphur Springs and scores of nephews, nieces, and friends. Visitation will be , 5 from 6 – 8 PM at Restland . Services will be held at 2:30 PM, , 6 at Restland Memorial Chapel. Interment with a military tribute will immediately follow in the Veterans Garden II at Restland. |
