Obituary: Edith Young Alexander, born 23 1916, passed away peacefully , 5 in San Antonio. Born Violet L. Anderson to Swedish immigrants Christian and Anna with six other children, were unable to provide a stable home environment and agreed to the adoption at age 5 months to Theodore C. and Eva F. Young. Christian, Anna, and family disappointed with their fortune in the United States, returned to Sweden. Renamed Edith Frances Young, she lived in New York. Theodore, an executive for Paramount Pictures introduced Edith to many period stars and starlets. But, ever silent about the adoption, Eva died in 1928 of cancer and Theodore a few years later in an auto accident. Edith discovered of the adoption when applying for a marriage license. She married James M. Kerr Jr. in 1936. Joan, their only child was born in 1937. James died in Florida from cancer in 1942. Edith remarried on 19 1943 to Army Lt. Charles H. Alexander. He was her devoted husband, traveling companion and friend for 46 years until his death at 78 in 1989. During those 46 years and for the remainder of her life, Edith traveled. She excelled at bridge, became an avid reader and throughout the years provided her extended family many examples of her excellent needlework. Following WWII Edith, Charles, Joan and now Susan, Judy and Charles Jr. lived a farming life in Worthington Mass. until Charles was recalled to active duty and went to Korea in 1951. Edith moved her four children, mother-in-law, and possessions to San Francisco, CA in a very old Pontiac Station Wagon when Charles was posted to Korea. Upon Charles return from Korea, Edith and family spent the next years crossing the country several times. From one Army post to another, family in tow, they traveled to New Jersey, Virginia and in 1959 to California and on to Spain to a MAAG assignment at the US Embassy, returning in 1962. Again living in northern Virginia, then moving to Arizona, retiring to Guadalajara Mexico and finally landing in San Antonio, Texas, Edith and Charles delighted in visiting family, traveling in their motor home and enjoying life. Edith, always outgoing and gracious was an active member of both the Hospitality and Newcomers clubs of San Antonio. Edith lost her daughter Susan, married to Thomas Stevenson of Tucson, Az., to a year long battle with cancer in 2008. Susan was 64. Edith is survived by her children and their spouses; Joan and Louis Wilson of San Antonio, Judy and David Jungbauer of San Antonio, and Charles Jr. and Donna Alexander of Poulsbo Washington. Edith was blessed with 4 children, 12 grandchildren, 21 Great grand children, and one Great great grandchild. Family was and is the cornerstone of Ediths life. Obituary: Dr. James Dales Alexander, III, age 50, passed away 10, 2012, in San Antonio, Texas. He was born 21, 1962, in Beloit, Wisconsin to James and Beverly Alexander. Dr. Alexander received his Medical Degree from the University of Iowa in 1987. Dr. Alexander served in the U.S. Army Medical Department.
